Door very stiff won't close tight

Chevy conversion van. Rear door just as stiff as a board. Very hard to close. Have tried spraying entire inner hinges with WD40 but still it remains stiff. Any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with the side doors of my 04 express. I put penetrating oil on the hinge pin with a hypodermic needle (hard to find). It is important that the oil gets into the hinge. I bent one set of hinges and broke a hinge because I waited too long to oil the hinge. The door may not close correctly because the hinge may be slightly bent. Keep all other hinges well lubed especially during the winter months when the hinges can be exposed to road salt. Fixing a bent hinge is difficult at best.

How can u align chevy extra cab rear door?

First, with the door almost tight; spray the inside area with wd40 to coat the painted area then, use a test spray paint color to see if the paint will stick to the wd40 and the wipe off, if it does you will be able to close the door and open the front door with the rear door closed and spray the hinge area with a paint to make your marker then use a jack with cloth at the bottom to protect the new door to aid in tightening and realingning

How to fix 2001 toyota sienna rear door not opening

The inner hatch latch mechanism is seized. You need to pull the door panel with it closed. It will be tight but it will come off without cracking. Spray lube around inside of latch. Get a long screw driver and pry the link from the key. The latch won't release until the key link goes to the unlock position. It will be seized. It is easy to figure which way to move it if you have someone insert the key into the closed hatch and try to move it.

1999 Ford Estcort inner door catch no longer opens

Not sure about the MOT fail but your best bet is to simply call them and ask.
As for the door fix. You will indeed need to remove the door panels and knobs to access the inner door.
If you remove the handles - knobs and panel you will be able to access the problem area.
Most likely you have some wear and rust problems in the door handle area. You can get a visual at most dealers and or car parts places to see what is there and what is missing. If you access it this way be sure to first try spraying all working parts with a lubricant like WD40 or some other penetrating spray. Once this sets for an hour spray again and try the lock. Most likely you will spend no more over all than by taking it to a shop. You have an option here of taking it to a body shop so you can shop the cheaper one.
This is not a hard fix but the metal in this area is like a razor blade and can cut you deep and fast. I recommend you take it to a professional but if you insist on trying it - put tape over the metal edges to keep safety to the maximum.

Keep us informed on how it goes. If you can take it apart and then ask more questions if needed then you might get it done at the house.

Best of it

Rear doors will not close just keep bouncing open

Before you take the inner door panel apart try to spray an oil like WD40 into the door latch mechanism & Open & close many times. The return spring for the latch has stuck and it needs some waking up. Getting then inner panel off does not help that much in access.

Non-power door locks do not open in cold weather. They have been lubed. As soon as it is cold, it is always a struggle to get in.

Hi,
On locks and lock mechanisms, I always use TriFlo, it is a silicone and Teflon based spray, that won't get thick in freezing temps. before you use it clean what you have oiled with a nonflammable electric parts cleaner spray and allow to dry.
