Loosing water from over flow bottle once a week

It may be that you have bad head gaskets. Internal gases can pressurize the cooling system and push water from the bottle. It is worth the check, to be sure.

How long since a tune up? Definitely add some fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank...maybe 2 bottles...I prefer Luca Oil injector cleaner...Walmart sells this the cheapest...also sludge in tank? Add a bottle of HEET to the gas tank to help dry up moisture,,,water...Change air filter and clean out (spray) throttle body...near the air filter inlet...also spray out mass air flow sensor...be sure to use MASS Air flow sensor spray only...does not damage the sensor...better mileage, smooth idle...hope this helps.

Pushing water out of over flow jug


That happens if you have neglected to check the overflow bottle's coolant levels weekly. Once it gets too low the engine starts emptying coolant into it every time the engine stops. You'll have to open the radiator and try filling it again (with the engine running) then wait for the thermostat to open then fill some more, then put the cap on. This time fill the reservoir bottle to the mark (or halfway) and watch it weekly. Also it is very likely that you will end up with an air pocket and your heater won't work unless you can burp the hoses etc. If you can't get heat go to a mechanic and have it done right.

fix the water leak at the heater first. You may be loosing pressure in the radiator allowing the coolant to boil at a low temp. This will pass water to the overflow bottle which is when you will be able to smell it

Yes it is normal just no hot air


1. When setting the temperature to MAX, blower level to FULL and outside air Vent CLOSED, no hot air comes out after 2-5 minutes?
If YES, when did you last flushed your radiator and is it full?
2. if more than 5 years ago, flush radiator system, instructions are usually in Owners manual. Use a bottle of Radiator cleaner, run egine hot for about 10-15 minutes, carefully open petcock in bottom of radiator to flush out radiator, WARNING, careful as flushed coolant would be boiling hot. As sson petcock is open and water start to flow out, carefully open radiator cap to enhance flushing flow. Use garden hose to fill radiator while flushing until water coming out from petcock is cold and clear.
Once clear, start engine, turn heter full and blower full blast and keep hose in radiator flowing full, leave petcock open until clear water flows out again. Once clear waters comes out, turn off engine,turn off garden hose and let water drain empty radiator. Once it stops flowing out, close petcock snug and put radiator cap on, pull off radiator coolant catch bottle, clean bottle for any debris and dirt. Drain any water, leave bottle empty and put it back onto its place.
3. Fill radiator with 1 gallon (4L) of concentrated coolant, top up radiator until full, fill catch bottle with concentrated coolant, start engine and keep it overflowing until no bubbles comes out and the radiator is fully hot. Once it is flowing good, close and connect everything. Drive with it and keep catch bottle filled as necessarry.

Radiator fluid evaporates sooner than expected.


RADIATOR fluid does not evaporates over summer or winter as it should stay in the cooling system and just go around and around so if you are loosing fluid then you have a LEAK and it might be when hot/ when cold /when driving , so tie a plastic bag over the out let pipe on the over flow bottle and see if you get any water in it over 2 weeks if yes then you could have a head problem,water pump problem,hose or hose clip problem leaking water but you wont see it ,it could also be the thermostat which needs changing to winter one,could be water pump or core plug leaking either hot or cold ,its a big job to find a small leak ,but a small job to find a big leak,but a few early Camrys had slight thermostat housing water leaks but dried up quick when you stoped, but another way to do it is to add a blue or a green die into the water system and run it for a week then check it over and you will see the stain...

My car ran hot for the 2nd. time in a month.no instrument lights came on. i addded water to coolant bottle after thr 1st. time and that seemed to help. i'm' loosing water somewhere but cannot tell where....


SYSTEM HAS TO BE PRESSURE TEST FIRST TO FIND THE LEAK ,MAY HAVE A LOOSE RADIATOR CLAMP,YOUR LOOSING COOLANT FROM SOME WHERE,MAYBE WATER PUMP,HAS TO BE PRESSURE TESTED FIRST

Water comes out of the over flow bottle when its hot.


IS THE RADIATOR COVER SUPPOSED TO BE PRESSURIZED???
IF SO THEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TYPE, TRY THAT FIRST
IF IT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE PRESSURE THEN YOU NEED TO LEAVE SOME BREATHING AIR IN THE OVER FLOW BOTTLE, REMEMBER TO NEVER FILL TO THE TOP.

My Smart car is using a lot for water. Refill at least once a day. Don't see any water leaks. Overheat in slow moving traffic.


OK , even though it is hard to know without physically checking the car , but my guess is that possibly you have air in the radiator as first option. So what you need to do is open the temp gauge sensor (located in the back , top of the engine) and please make sure to open the lock and not to lose it as you will need it to tighten the sensor in its place. Open the water bottle and pour water in it and let the water come out from the back (the sensor) , you will see air bubbles coming out with the water , but keep on pouring water till you see no bubbles what so ever. put sensor back in its place while water bottle is full and while water is still coming out from the back to make sure that no air escapes inside with the water.You might need another person to help you pouring water while you are in the back. Start the car and let it warm up and let it run till it gets to 100 temp and watch how fast it comes back to 80 for couple of times , and while car running check the water bottle cap if its loosing any water. Whenever i park the car water leaks out of the tiny hole under the rad cap ! Why ?


In the cooling system of the car,there is a fair amount of water.When it gets hot it expands.It will half fill the overflow bottle.If you top up the water too far,it will flow out the hose,or hole as you said.This is normal.If it flows out a lot,and you have to refill the bottle very often,this is something that needs looking at.But a small amount is normal only once or twice after topping up.Just make sure is not the aircon,drain.I hope this helps
