Battery going dead

Every week or two I go out to start the car in the morning and the battery is completely dead. I notice after I boost the car the drl light comes on whenever i start it. It's driving me nuts just when I think everything is ok it happens again. I brought it to a garage and they could find nothing wrong with it.

This was quite a while ago if I remember correctly it was a bad relay. I'm not a mechanic, keep in mind. I think what was happening was if I didn't turn everything off ( A/C for instance) before I shut down the car it was still drawing a tiny amount of power and if left sitting long enough would kill the battery. Make sure you turn everything off before you shut off the car and see if that seems to work, it may be the same problem.

Thanks for getting back to me. Since the first time the battery died 2 weeks ago, I have been making a point to make sure everything is turned off. It just seems if the car is left not started for longer than 24 hours the battery is drained. A few guy friends of mine who know a bit about cars seem to think it's the battery, so I am going to get a new one and see if that is the issue. Thanks again! Have a great day!

Sounds like a bad door switch.you could have a bad connection in your ground and it only becomes disconnected when you close your door.

I would first clean the battery post and clamps, as a bad connection can cause a vehicle to act like the battery is dead, you can either buy battery terminal cleaner( it comes in a spray can) or you can use coke and a wire brush. Hope this helped Tim

There is a switch above the break peddle that is adjustable for the break lights. This is running your battery down that is why the gauges are jumping. Change the battery.. If it is 5 years old draining it dead will kill the cells. Hope this helps.

2004 BMW 530i ALARM GOES ON AND SOMETIMES CAR DOESNT START

Your alternator is draining your battery to the point that you will still have your lites but will not have enough to start your car. I would take the alternator off and take it to your nearest automotive center to get it tested. They usually will test it for free. Hope this helps you get back running.

My question is- my 2001 Mitsubishi Galant has the anti-theft system. The battery went down because it hasn't been driven in a couple of weeks. I can boost it off & drive it for just a mile or so &...

Usually if it is the anti theft system it should not start with a boost, I would suggest first check the basics have the altenator tested with a voltmeter the volts should read 13.5 to 14.5 if not you probbably have a bad altenator, loose belt, or bad or loose battery connections. Since the battery went completly dead I would suggest having it recharged and tested.
