Don't know how to get all the air out of the system.

I let the engine run while filling the reservoir with 50/50

coolant and the heater blowing high and hot. Once the

coolant level is filled I close everything up and drive it til

the coolant light on the dashboard goes off but the light

never goes off and it still runs hot. I have changed the

fan fuses and prior to this situation the fans didn't work

and even with changing the fan fuses, it still son't work.

This tells me that I must replace the double fans that

are there because neither has worked for a long time

now that it's been mentioned. How do I get all the air

out of the system and what is your thought on replacing

the fans from local junk yard or should it be purchased new? .

i have the same problem but only the d/s fan works only with the a/c on compressor cycling the p/s doesn't work the fans don't operate normaly but the car nver overheats so i must have got all the air out, temp needle is @ 3/4 way up above middle needle but not in the red.

    What should be next?

A common problem is that the electric fan will not operate. You need to determine if the fan is coming on when the vehicle gets warm.

When you replaced the coolant, were you sure that you got all of the air out of the cooling system? If you have any air in the system, it will cause your system to run hot!

On most GM vehicles one fan will come on whenever the A/C is on, I beleive it is the passenger side. The other (drivers side) comes on when the temperature reaches a certain point, to draw air thru the radiator.

A new complete fan is around 100, you can purchase just the motor, but it will be more labor intensive. If you can find one at a junk yard, it could be worthwhile, if they will let you make sure that it works, and the price is cheap.

If I understand you, the coolant level light stays on all the time? If so, you may have a problem with your coolant level sensor. You may have coolant, but it is not registering, because of a bad sensor.

The best way to get all of the air out of the system? Make sure you wear saftey equipment! It is best to jack up the front of the car (safely using jackstands) in order to get the radiator higher than the engine (air pockets like to exist in the thermostat housing, heater core, and other places). The air pockets will want to go to the highest point. Turn on the heater, open the radiator cap (cold). Start the engine, and let it run at idle. Try to maintain the level just above the radiator core. You may need to allow to run for 20 mins at idle to get all of the air out!

Heater wont warm up on 93 cutlass supreme

If the heater hoses are getting hot, and the radiator is full of coolant, it could be a faulty blend door under the dash.

The system is not entirely pugred yet. check your coolant level in the radiator if you can, fill as necessary, same for the resevoir. If you have any purge vales in the system. start the car and open them until coolant comes out, do this a couple of times to check for trapped air. be careful of hot coolant.

94 cutlass supreme is overheating, all fluids are fine. I did have someone tell me i need 3 motor mounts replaced. could this be an issue of the car overheating?

Over heating can be caused by a faulty thermostat and or weak water pump and dirty radiator and old antifreeze or the radiator fan now working when at idle but should not over heat when driving. Service the cooling system if it has never been serviced before. Replace the thermostat, buy some radiator flush to clean out the radiator and heater core. Just follow the instruction and replace the antifreeze and make sure it's a 50/50 mix water/antifreeze. If you not sure how to mix it 50/50 you can buy them 50/50 premixed. Water boils at 100'C so you need antifreeze mixed with it but antifreeze does not have the same heat transfer as water so you cannot run 100% antifreeze cause it does not transfer heat fast enough and you over heat. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, Be glad to help, once you service the cooling system and your still over heating, then we look at the water pump.

Overheating and Heat doesn't work

Sounds to me like air trapped somewhere in the coolant's path. You said there's a warm spot on top of the engine. This makes me think of possibly a cracked intake manifold or cylinder head. Did it overheat right before this started? I would have the coolant system 'back flushed' and if the problem is still there, I'd next do a compression test (with the radiator cap off).and check to see if there are air bubbles in the radiator while testing. Good luck, please let me know what you find.
