Question about 1992 Volkswagen Passat
My '92 Passat 16v has intermittent problem. When the car starts no matter when it is hot or cold it is sputtering. While it is idling I can give it gas at 3000 rpm it clears up then does the same when it idles at normal speed.
BUT sometimes it idles fine.
If I drive the car I have a large amount of lost power, misfiring etc. But then it will clear up at higher rpm's then come back at lower rpms. Sometimes it is completely fine for few miles.
I have changed ONE AT TIME:
External fuel pump
Fuel pump relay
Fuel pressure regulator
ALL four injectors and checked the cold start valve for leaks
cap and rotor
I haven't changed the internal fuel pump but I am going to on Tuesday. Can it be the problem? What about knock sensors? The car isn't knocking or pinging. PLEASE HELP!!!
Check and replace you coolant temp sensor. had a similar issue in mine.

Hi there, im thinking egr valve because of loss of power and erratic idle or the idle air control valve because it also too has the same effect
