PO174 AND PO171\

code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank1===causes ---intake /exhaust leaks--AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors --fuel pressure/pump--injector/S=== HO2S
code p 0174 refers to system too lean bank 2====causes intake /exhaust leak---fuel pressure/pump---injector/s---AIR system---hose connection/s
the fuel pressure is adequate
The HO2S is the heated oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold /pipe before the cat converter
( is responsible for the fuel ratio settings )
you may have to pull the injectors to have them cleaned and tested
the maf/vaf sensor may have to be replaced as well

How do I replace the o2 sensors on a 1999 chevrolet suburban?

this vehicle has four 02 sensors two before the cat. converters and two after the two rear ones behind each converter are only for monitoring purpose to see if converters are performing correctly two before the converters are responsible for checking correct air fuel fuel ratio they can be removed with a 7/8'' open end wrench if not gaulded may need to purchase 02 socket

Fuel ratio sensor replacement

The air/fuel ratio sensor is just a four wire (pre-heated) O2 sensor. It is right in front of your O2 sensor and can be replaced with only a wrench. The cheapest i found it was for $186 at and i hear that at the dealer it costs $255.

i hope this is helpful

I need to change o2 sensor where is it located

Figuring that you have the 4.0 you have four o2 sensors. two up stream and two downstream. To know which one you need you really should hook up to a scanner and watch the information flow from each of them B1S1 and B1S2 will have an inverse proportion of voltage. That is to say if S1 is at .9mv, then S2 will be around .01 and visavera as it moves up and down in value. The same thing foes for bank two. The Si is located between the exhaust outlet of the engine and the catalytic converter. S2 is located after the last cat. converter. Many Fords have four cats.

Note; what the parts stores won't tell you is that you may have an O2 code not because you have a bad 02 sensor, but because the 02 sensor is sensing improper ratio's between the two sensors. This can be because the vehicle is running too rich, too lean or the cat. converters are not doing their job.

Hope this helps.

02 sensor

First of all if it is a 6 cylinder its an inline engine (4.0L). The reason I bring this up is it changes your O2 sensor configuration. Bank 1 sensor 1 ( there is only one bank because only 1 manifold) is the primary O2 sensor controlling the air/fuel ratio dependant on other sensors. Bank 1 sensor 2 is After the cataylistic converter. Depending on the code if low input or high input could be wiring and not a sensor at all. Also a low flow or high flow could indicate somebody previously "punched" the converter out or it is getting clogged due to age and mileage. Hope this helps.

Having trouble figuring out which color wire goes to which color wire , hooking up the rear 02 sensor

Yeah..the O2 sesor is made by DELPHI. Call the GM parts counter guy at your local dealership ....they want to sell parts and usually cough up the answers you need so you buy the part from the dealer...then just go to advance or NAPA and get what you need for 1.3rd the price...I am not trying to be dishonest, just looking out for your wallet.
