We have the same problem with both sun visors and not only that but the headlight & turn signal bulbs always go out. I will never buy a kia again.

    unsatisfied customer!

The springs snapped in my drivers side visor. kia will not cover it because my car has 63000 miles and it is only covered until 60000 miles. funny thing is it happened 4 months ago...would have been covered.

I had the same problem, I ended up taking it in, sure glad it was under warrenty. $128.00 for a visor? That is nuts. So far I have not been very impressed with this car. My gas mileage is kind of low too if you ask me, I am getting 22 to 23 MPG, what is everyone else getting for gas mileage with their 2006 Optima with a 2.7 V6?

My 2006 Optima also has issues with the blinker bulbs and headlights going out. My driver side sun visor is broke too! Can't seem to find the visor anywhere except the dealership. I am not thrilled about paying so much money for a visor. I use a rubber band to keep mine up so that it doesn't slap me in the face!

I've had my visor replaced twice. ar has 48,000 miles. Im glad others are having this trouble I thought I was somehow mis-using the visor?? Nearly impossible I use a safety pin to hold it up now. I will be heading back to the dealership for #3...

My drivers side visor did the same thing today, it won't go back up. I'm slightly over 60,000 miles so it's not going to be covered. It keeps hitting me in the head it's getting annoying.

    my sunvisor won't stay up

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2014

It is actually in tilt position open...the Kia comes with a tool to open and close but its not turning because I think it being in tilt position is not letting me turn screw.

My daughter had the same problem with her visor. I put velcro on the visor to try to keep it up out of the way but after a while the velcro came lose and the visor came down again. I called KIA and talked with a technician. I was told that in order to fix the visor I would have to remove the cloth so I should be able to sew. Not a viable solution. We ended up taking her car in and had a new visor put on. It was covered under warranty. Had problems with headlights going out. Bought the replacement bulbs from NAPA. They only lasted a few months. Started purchasing the bulbs from the dealer and have not had to replace them for over a year. Have to pay a little more but it is worth not having to hassle with their replacement.

How to replace 2007 Kia Sportage sun visor

I forced a small nail between the visor rod and the tube (or whatever) the rod goes into in the visor itself. That created enough tension or drag to hold the visor and keep it from drooping. The visor now works in all three positions.

Replacing sun visor

Have KIA issue a safety recall because both 2007 and my 2006.5 are plagued with sun visor failures. It is dangerous and needs fixed. The customer should not have to shell our $100. a pop to fix a KIA problem. Both sides have failed in a stuck position just before and just after warrenty expired.

Look at the plastic plate that the visor arm comes out of. There are screws underneath the plate. You need to adjust these screws, and that should take care of the problem.

I've had to have this fixed twice by Kia. It's under warranty, so it's a free, fast fix. They do need to redesign this!!

Sun visors flop down and obsruct the view on my 2007 kia optima

Both of my visors broke -- first the one right after purchasing (had dealership repair) then the other (still under warantee, so dealership repaired). The lady said the 2007 Optimas had a "bad batch" of visors and many needed to be replaced. Fine. Now the driver's side broke again. It just needs to be replaced. I love the Kia, hate the visors. Not a bad payoff for the reasonable price. So far, the only thing that has broken.

I have the same problems with 2006.5 Kia Optima

The wiring may have a short in it. If you have replaced bulbs many times, either the flasher is bad or there is a short in the turn switch. For the visor, you may be able to get one from the scrap yard if they have anything that new, otherwise you can go to autoanything.com or equivelant, and purchase a more reasonably priced visor

Sun visor won't go back into place

if its flopping around or feels loose you can try tightening the "hinge" that connects it to the roof and tightening the screws on the visor itself. That might align it enough to fit again properly.

2007 Optima sun visor is loose.

My 2007 Optima Driver's Side visor also had the same problem. I removed it with the screws under the plate at the base of the visor. Upon further inspection, the plastic inside the "hinge" had shattered inside the plastic sleeve. I am currently attempting some at-home super-glue-and-epoxy repair. If this works, I've saved myself a couple hundred bucks in repairs.
