Hi,considering changing from rice burner to T100 but would like to know the T100's weaknesses-engine etc.

to answer this question I would need to know the sieze of rice burner 1.6, 1.8 , 2.0, 2.7, ect. what sieze is T100 2.7, 3.0, 3.4. if rice burner is smaller, T100 will use more gas for more power. I think the T100 has more sensors, somethings may not plug up. some have 3 O2 sensors and some have 2 O2 sensers depending on year and model. one other thing is putting V6 in 4 banger hole transmission may not match, sometimes you will need to use a shorter drive shaft. and wiring is main thing to check. building a Cristian is a pricee project. Good luck

My 96 Trans sport sounds like it is missing. I get to about 40 or 45 mph and it starts to shudder. The mechanic said he diagnosed it to do a tune up, wires and plugs and he said it jumped from one set to...

Not the torque converter, that would cause slipping. Most likely not even the transmission. Most likely something to do with the ignition. Wires hardly ever go bad, check the spark plugs, the gap on the plugs needs to be a certain distance. Distributor cap and rotor should be dry (on the inside) and clean of dirt/grime and carbon build up. If your mechanic is correct then it should have been the wires, replaced and problem gone. If not, take to a different mechanic, he's filling you with lies.

Hi there,

There should be a square aluminium "Build Plate" (size of cigarette packet?) mounted somewhere on the firewall - this plate will have build information such as Chassis Number, Engine Number, Transmission Number etc, etc.

If you cannot locate this plate, then check the 'cc rating' of your engine listed on your registration/MOT papers, or compare to these two engine types (your vehicle will have one or the other):

BJ 14 - 1,290 cc
B3 14 - 1,324 cc

Your 'full' engine number will be stamped on the engine block (or may also be recorded on your registration or Warrant/MOT papers).

Hope this helps,

How to build cars

mcdevito75 here, That would be a project and a half, First you:d need a Chassis, available at the junk yard, then Front suspension parts, have to buy brand new, maybe $600.00------$1,000,00 then you"d need the engine, Transmission and rear end, chances are all would have to be re-buit, maybe $6,000.00--------$10,000,00 then you"d need the cars electrical Harnesses, also buy brand new, maybe $3,000, then you"d need a body, from the junk yard, maybe $1,000.00 Then you would need the tools, Hoists, Jacks, Know how, welding equipment, and all associated testing equipment, Then you"d need to check with your local motor vehicle dept. for any of their requirements. They do sell auto body re-building kits, for a Volkswagon Chassis, abiut $6,000.00

Missing out

sounds like it has a vacuum leak(small hose, something simple)but to be sure stop by advance or auto zone and they will perform a free CODE CHECK,that should identify the problem far as the transmission goes shifting is effected by engine performance so it's probably sure to watch the temperature gage and make sure it dosen't overheat, otherwise it should be ok till you can get a code check.
