Van starts great, runs great until going up incline or after engine warms up fully (15 minutes or so). Then begins to lose compression, or "chug". Will be ok if let off gas pedal and press down again slowly. Does not climb hills with any speed at all, and drops from running speed if going up any incline. Also, AC makes a squealing noise if on when van is started, will stop after two blocks or turned off, then turned back on in a minute or two. Van also seems to run better up hill without AC on. So......Two questions: #1 - what's the problem? # 2 - what's the cost of repairs? Thanks so much!
Many reasons for this problem. It might be MAF sensor, MAP sensor, ECM and clogged cat converter. Check the wires on the two ports above the throttle body. fuel pump, crank position sensor grounding out on tranny cooler lines underneath. Clean throttle body, fuel pump failure, delivering poor fuel pressure, and getting worse when reach hi temp, just wont stop working but only delivered 4 pounds of pressure instead of 11 to 13, replace the fuel pump removing 8 bolts from the bed. Check how to reset the ECM if getting problems related to the ECM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1sVpHClhXs
Their are a multitude of reasons the majority or the usual suspects are - if any codes have read and most auto stores offer this service for free --needs tune up ---egr valve carboned or failing --fuel pump /filter failing or partial clogging --catylic converter failing or clogging --injectors- tbi needs replacement or rebuild-- bad fuel any of these can cause such problems and not set off the check engine light

just got my envoy back from the shop . it was loosing power strugling up hills, the thought it was the throtle body but it was infact the cat/conv,causing the throtle body to open up.yes it fixed the prob, but the converter aint cheep,go with factory part not aftermarket.the after market causes u more problems in long run

did you do a fuel pressure test? if you havent do it its cheep an at least you can elimanate that. if thats not an issue, then there is only two other things crank sensor, and if there is one cam sensor.

It could be a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump. Also try replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires and having the timing checked. Good luck.
SOURCE: Losing power/acceleration on hills
Change or clean the EGR valve and install a new catalytic converter.
This should take care of the problem.

i think if you checked the sparking plugs and map sensors then check your distributer its maybe not delivering the current nedded to perform the spark to some of the cylinders
