Most of these are found in the fuse box/relay box under the hood, (it is made of black plastic, and about the seize of your hand).
One of the fans should be for the engine temperature regulation, one should be for the air conditioning system.
God bless your efforts.
You will need to go on the web and just type in the year make model and repair manual and a few sites will pop up, theres a few thing that would cause the fan to be hot wired.a bad fan relay which is the most common problem this is located on the driverside shock tower area,it has the relay and the fuse, and the coolant temp fan switch may also be bad,
It is common for the fan to run momentarily when motor is started. After that the fan should only come on when the engine reaches a certain temperature. If the fans are not running when the engine is overheating, then it is usually the fan relay switch. Your local auto parts store should help you to locate the relay switch, and they are only a few dollars to replace. And can easily be done in 5 minutes or less. To test the relay first, with the key in the on position, use an electrical tester to find the "hot" wire going to the relay and using a small piece of wire, connect that "hot" wire to one of the other connectors on the relay. If the fan comes on when you do this, you know that the relay switch is indeed defective.
Open the hood. You see the battery on the passenger side. Right behind the batt is a black box with all main relay's. Open the box, inside you find a description for each relay at this place. Change the one you're told you need to change it.
Fan Relay switch is stuck open. This of course assumes your temperature
sensor is working appropriately. Which I assumed since you seem to know
that the engine is running hot.
Replace the fan relay switch. The relay switch is tripped when the temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is too hot.
Until you get the relay switch replaced, you can either by-pass the
relay switch and directly connect the fans to the battery, or turn on
your A/C ALL the time and use it at a minimum setting. This will keep
the cooling fans running at all times.
there is a relay panel under the hood with your engine cooling fan relay inside, a 12 dollar part, sounds to me like this relay may need to be replaced. There will be a diagram in your owners manual telling you exactly where it is located in your car. It should be noted that this relay has to be activated before the current reaches any fuse inside the cars fuse panel so your fan fuses can all be good but if the relay is not working the engine cooling fans will not come on. Be careful of dealerships I had one tell me it was a 3000 dollar wiring problem when it was only the relay.
there is a relay in the junction box under the hood if the cooling fan is not coming on when the engine is at 180 degress you can take the a/c clutch relay and switch it with the fan relay. if the fans come on it's the relay if it still doesn't it's the temp sensor on the fan unit....please rate this
