Hi there, the knocking may be the cv joints coming apart. they are like a driveshaft u joint setup and when the ball bearing start wearing out they tend to start falling out, and you cant see them because they are covered by a rubber boot

You'll need a mechanic to check it out. Could be a piston, rod bearing, or a list of other things.

1994 Mercedes Benz C280 Knocking sound at idle

Sounds like sticking lifters. You could have a collapsed or sticking lifter. A measurement using a Vacuum gauge will show some of the symptoms and tell a mechanic about internal engine operations.

The knock is an indication beyond your problems with the misfires. You could have a more serious problem at the bottom of the engine with bearings or rod connections. The lifter problem would only involve the top of the motor or even 1 side with a v8 or v6.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to drive your car very much as the knock is telling you it needs immediate repair. You can ask what the Labor charges are at the various Repair shops and the sourcing of the repair parts can also save you money.

The Mechanics will not know the true damage until some things are removed or measured.

Would a faulty speed circuit sensor make the car idol noisy like a rattling knocking noise. noise is louder when accelerating.

NO, it sounds more terminal than that, if you have a knocking sound or noise coming from your engine it could be a few different things, 1. big end bearing, need to rebuild bottom end of engine this is the main one, best get it to a mechanic to clarify the problem for you

Its hard to say or diagnose noise without hearing it in person. without hearing it in person it going to be tough. Noise can be belts, power steering pump, tension pulley, rod knocking, valve tapping etc? the best thing to do if you still driving the car, is to take it to the nearest gas station that has a garage and have one of the mechanics to listen to it and wont cost you a penny and they will able to tell what making that noise; guessing the sounds its like playing charade.

Knocking noise in 3.8 lit 95 ford taurus

You can not put a liquid where metal is supposed to be. Just a general rule of thumb. The high RPM's had been too much for the engine, and A rod bearing, or rod knocking is about the same thing. Dont try the heavier oil thing, I hate when ppl suggest such stuff. Just replace the bearing, or in most cases and cost efficent, the engine.

Jaguar xj6 1982 model/mechanics

It could be as bunnydawg suggested but thiers quite a few other things that could cause that sound. You need to be a little more specific as any of the rotating parts, drive shaft etc, could be the cause of the noise. If not the engine making that noise which is odd as it only gets noisy at specific times,60 and up Check drive shaft uni joints, tyres and harmonic balancer also make sure none of the front pulleys arnt loose.Good luck
