Question about 1998 Volvo S90

I replaced heads and gasket.

Three cylinders fire but three will not am I missing a sensor are a plug.

What about the coil itself? Is it firing properly?

I have 2000 dodge ram 1500 with a number 5 and a number 7 miss fire along with the speed sensor it just happened driving down the road can you tell me what might have caused this and who I can go about...


Did you change the spark plugs also ? Could have a head gasket leak between 5 an 7 ! Could have bad fuel injectors , clogged ! What about the speed sensor , you have a DTC stored in memory ,have check engine light on ? Need you to explain this a little better , misfire along with the speed sensor ! What about speed sensor ? You could have a vacuum leak affecting those two cylinders !

Miss fire on cylinder six on a gm sierra 1500 5.7 1996


Check compression on that cylinder. All the items you replaced could have been tested to see if they where working correctly. If they where than there was no need replace them and the next logical step would be to check for a mechanical failure rather than an electrical or engine management failure. In other words if the engine is not solid mechanically than there is no reason to replace electrical parts to try and solve the issue.

Miss firing and passing raw fuel through exhast , replaced 1 coil , all new plugs and new plug wires


check the fuel pressure regulator... it is the small round chrome cylinder shaped thing on the fuel rail...unplug the vacuum hose from the top of it and see if there is fuel in the hose if there is you will need to replace the fuel pressure regulator.

My engine misses, and I have the check engine light on.


Could be many different things on a 4.6L Ford. The best way is to have it checked by a scanner. It will narrow down to what cylinder or cylinders have a miss-fire. If the engine light is flashing, do not drive it. Possible problems, Low fuel pressure, spark plugs, fuel injectors, mass air flow sensor, o2 sensors, bad head gasket or head, low compression on a cylinder.

I recently just bought this car and it is miss firing in cylinders 2 and 3..i was wondering what all it could mean by it miss firing in those cylinders..i did replace the spark plugs and wires..that still...


I hope i am wrong, but being #2 and #3 contiguous cylinders, there is a possibility that the head gasket has blown right between them. The way to find out, is by running a compression check on all cylinders, which will also tell you a comprehensive story on the health and condition of the engine.

#1 plug is miss-firing.I have replaced plug and wire,but keeps miss-firing only on#1 plug.have been told that coolant is possibly getting in #1cylinder.also I have been told #1 coil could be bad.witch is...


Could only be a few things. The coil #1, Fuel injector #1, Stuck intake or exhaust valve, or blown head gasket allowing coolant into cylinder #1. Use a spark tester to check the spark coming out of cylindr #1 if checks good then ohm test the injector when it is warm. Check other injectors to compare. Do a compression test on cylinder #1 and test other cylinders to compare. If cylinder is low compression suspect valves and or head gasket. If compression is low then het a leak down tester to test if a valve is broke or sticking. On your sable i would suspect injector or coil most likely.

Jeep just had head gaskets put on. its miss fireing between cylinders 3 and 5. motor has vibration n exhaust is makin poppin noise . what could cause this


The easiest thing is to make sure the firing order is correct with the spark plug wires. You may have 5 and 3 spark plug wires crossed. Also, was this vehicle running ok before the head gasket repair???

Hey guys i got 540i 98 and i got a few problems! i know something a bout mechanical but never in bmw i got miss fire in cylinder 5 and 6 is this car single coil or just 1 for all of them? also...


mcdevito75 Here, The mechanics itself even in a BMW are about the same, not putting down BMW though, the mis-fire in 2 cylinders next to each other could be a head gasket, or something related to the ignition system. If you can remove plugs 5 & 6 if they appear white, it"s a head gasket, a little wet with gas then it:s ignition. Have your local auto shop check it out for you.

Miss-fires especially when cold, hesitates when you excellerate


I had this happen recently to our Buick rendezvous. Unfortunately it was due to a blown head gasket. It goes away when warm due to the block expanding. Coolant was getting through into the cylinder. Hopefully this isn't your problem but the same symptoms. We had replaced plugs, wires, and an 02 sensor before comfirming it was a head gasket. Luckily ours was covered under warranty.
