Question about 2003 Dodge Stratus

I had a small amount of sugar put in my gas tank again I think I caught the person doing this so not a whole lot got put in, I was told to put dry gas in. The last time this happened the engine light went on and it wasn't shifting. I am hoping that the dry gas might of helped and I won't have any problem. Is there something I can do without having to drain the gas tank again

Another thi8ng to prevent it is to get a locking gas cap at your car parts store. they cost about 10 or 15 dollars...

Be sure to change fuel filter too. Here's to hoping you caught it.

Someone pour sugar in gas tank

did your engine get hot the second time. if it was me i would have an estimate for everything to be perfect and take the person who did it and take them to court. sugar could ruin your engine, and you could do the same if u run it too lean, cause your cyl head temp could get really hot.

How to clean sugar water out a gas tank

You must remove the gas tank and flush it out with clean water then with denatured alcohol and then let it dry. You will also need to replace the fuel filter and purge the fuel lines.

I might have sugar or water in gas.

This is a Saturn ion i do not think there is and i would not even start this car if you even think there may be sugar in the tank,Water can cause a little damage but not really as long as there is gas mixed but still do not run engine. sugar is bad!!. this will cause lots of damage. converter, injectors and cylinder wall damage.
You will need to drop tank and drain it out and then flush it out good. then drain fuel lines and replace the fuel filter. after you are done i would put in a bottle of dry gas and a fuel injector cleaner additive in the tank.
Note ' make sure to flush tank good, When fuel lines are removed the fuel in lines should drain back out of lines. the only problem is what is in the fuel rail and injectors, this is why i said to add injector cleaner and dry gas additive to help if there is any small amount of water left in tank. hope this helps ,good luck.

Someone sugared my gas tank. i have a chrysler 300 m. i flushed the gas tank and now its sitting in my yard. I never turned the key over at all. I noticed it right away. How long do i have to wait for it...

First off it is a myth that sugar will destroy an engine. Sugar will not dissolve in gasoline. Depending on how much sugar was added it could clog the fuel pump sock filter. You have drained the tank, so add 5 gallons of fuel to the tank and start the engine. It will do no harm whatsoever. You may have to change the fuel filter a few times if the sugar clogs it but otherwise no harm will be done.

At Halloween someone put sugar in my tank, I drove it about 50 miles before it stalled. I've pulled the tank, replaced the pump, filter, had the injectors cleaned professionally, I pured hot water down...

Quite honestly, I would make a claim on your insurance and take it to a garage. If it was in your yard and you have home owner's it may be covered there to. That is a nasty act of vandilism to do to anyone. Have you tried pouring dry gas with isopropyl into your gas tank? I was told it can help nuetralize the sugar.

Water in fuel

Dry gas should remove it unless you are talking about large amounts of water. The best way to add it is when your tank is about one half or less full. One quarter is better but you have to do what you have to do.Add the dry gas then fill up with gas for proper mixing.Maybe add octane boost in the same method to help raise the gas rating if there is a lot of water. It is okay too add the boost and the dry gas at the same time.If there is a high amount of water, you may need to syphon the tank.Let me know if you have an idea of how much water you think you have and I probably can tell you a way to syphon the tank if you need help.Good luck! Sugar in gas tank

if it still starts then your ok.remove gas tank and dump fuel.clean out any sugar on bottom of tank.go throuh the fuel pump hole. use a water hose if needed then let it dry.fill up tank and just run it it will be ok. what sugar does to an engine [and never mind myth busters, they are wrong] ive seen it 4 times, someone in town was having fun with sugar in the tank.anyways with enough sugar in gas tank the sugar disolves in the fuel.then engine, especially the valve stems get hot and sugar becomes a molten goo on the parts, valves, pistons, cylinders, fuel injectors.only the hot parts seem to be effected. then when you turn the engine off the sugar cools and becomes hard like a piece of hard candie.the valve stems are now locked into valve guides and cannot open or close,it takes alot more driving to damage pistons and rings only a little sugar is injected on every intake stroke and its aimed right at the valve mile of driving i dought will cause problems. beware that if the sugar was poured it dry you will need to flush out the filler neck.if it was dry then very little got in the tank anyway, unless you put gas in it after sugar was added

I cannot put gas into the tank of my 98 honda accord. it backs up. I think it is the flap in the tube. Could sugar have caused this

sugar in tank goes to bottom and clogs the rest of the fuel system. If you are thinking sugar...... than it's possible that someone could have put anything in the filler to block it

2002 with possible sugar in tank

How do you know if its got sugar in it? I dought it trashed the engine unless they poured it in the oil too. Drop the fuel tank and clean it out, take fuel filter off and thro away, blow out the fuel line put new filter on put tank back in fill with new gas and an additive of some sorts that can clean the injectors and run it. Thats the best i can tell you to do.
