2001 vw beetle brake lights not working

Needing some help...none of my brake lights are working...we checked all of the fuses and they all are good..and all of the other lights in and out side the car are working fine..also we checked the thing that the actual brake pedal pushes and when you push it down they still don't work..what could it be?

Actually, the switch you are referring to will cut the brake lights off when depressed, it is when extended that it will make contact, and light up the brakes. However, if it does nothing at all no matter what it's position, check the wires leading to the switch, and check the switch itself. If it lights up the brakes when you pull the switch off the rail, then you just need to readjust it, so that when you push the pedal, the stem is high enough to ride down with the pedal bar.

If the switch won't pass any current, simply replace your switch, and make sure that when you put the new one in, to adjust it's height above the pedal rail.

When I turn my lights on my tail lights work but when I hit my brakes the don't light up I have a 2001 vw beetle????

the brake lights don't light up or the taillights don't light up? the brake lights are brighter than the tailights so the tailights won't show up whenbrakes are applied. if no lights work when brakes are applied then check for a bad ground at the light assembly.

Where can I locate the fuse for my licence plate lights on my 2001 VW Beetle

No fuse. light bulbs have filaments which works like a fuse. When old and too hot they simply burn out. The license lamp works off the headlight switch. I would check the wiring first

I have a 2002 VW Beetle TDI my passenger side brake light is out, I replaced it with two separate bulbs, check the fuses and still does not work. What else can I do?

Validate the there's current in the light socket. Use a test meter and see if it's above 0v. Probably just poor contact, and it's an easy fix.
