2000 Bravada ABS and check engine light are on can only get reverse and 2nd
I have a 2000 Bravada, the ABS light turns off and on, when it turns on the speedometer stops working. The transmission slips in drive, 1st, and 3rd. I have been told the I need new transmission, I have also been told I just need to replace sensors.

This is an electric shift transmission (4L60E). If the harness is not plugged in well enough or has dirt in the plug it can lose contact causing it to seem as if it is bogging. What is essentially happening is that it is starting out in 1st initially, but when you slow or stop it doesn't go into 1st again and tries to go in 2nd. You can go undewr the truck and check th connection. If this doesn't resolve the issue, I would return the truck to the repair shop and have them check to assure that the plugs are correct in the valve body driving the shift solenoids.
truck is in limp/safe/limited power mode its a safety due to brake problem check abs sensors the wiring, connections and clips for problems or damage if none visible have truck scanned most auto stores such as auto zone / advanced auto [check your local area]offer this service for free the trouble code will tell u what area or part is causing a problem so a repair can b made
ABS light is on due to a bad or dirty ABS sensor on the front wheel hub.
Inspect the front wheel ABS sensor and wire leads on the front wheel
inner hub where the speed ring is. At worst it's going to be a bad electronic Actuator at the transfer
case or one of the speed sensor at the transfer case, but most likely
it's going to be the vacuum switch if you don't have any check engine
I suggest visit autozone or dealer for scanning and know exactly the fault code.
ABS light is on due to a bad or dirty ABS sensor on the front wheel hub. Inspect the front wheel ABS sensor and wire leads on the front wheel inner hub where the speed ring is. The 4wd will not disengaged is common when the vacuum switch on top of the transfer case drives side has gone bad and needs to be replaced, you can pick one up at Auto Zone or Napa for around $25.00 and take about 20 min to replace with a wrench. At worst it's going to be a bad electronic Actuator at the transfer case or one of the speed sensor at the transfer case, but most likely it's going to be the vacuum switch if you don't have any Check engine light on. Good luck and keep me posted.
Is it a manual or auto? Assuming its a manual, is there an ABS light on? If so or if you hace changed the brake pads recently or even had the tires off or rotated, there could be a problem in the brake pad sensor or abs wheel speed sensor.
Check with Porsche service (your closest dealer) for recalls or TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) related to your concern and check the cayman/boxster owners clubs for similar posts and resolutions.
