Question about 2005 Kia Amanti

Electric mirrors on my Amanti not staying fixed when set after cutting engine off

The side mirrors on my 05 Amanti will not stay in their fixed positons after the car is turned off. Everytime I get back in my car, the mirrors or angled somewhere other than where I lift them. I have to reset the mirrors everytime I get back in and start the engine. They seem to move or float off their positions when setting idle when engine is turned off. I called the KIA dealer where I bought the car to take it back for them to look at since it is still under the 60,000 mile warranty. The service mg. right off tried to tell me that it is a programing problems with the computer, and therefore it will not be covered uner the warranty and I will have to pay between $75.00 to $120.00 for them to fix it.
Is there any information or way that I can have them check this without me paying this fee under the warranty.??????

I have the same problem. Changed both mirrors, changed body control module, and reprogrammed several times, without any change. This is a problem of the 2005 Amanti, and it seems that Kia has no clue. Please send me your email address as I wish to start a class action against Kia.          Posted January 20, 2009.

I've noticed a similar problem. Try manually setting the mirrors and seat and then set them as setting one or two on the memory. When you get out, hit the lock button on the key-less remote (in lieu of the lock button on the door) and see if that locks them in for you.

05 kia amanti, rough idle, #1,#2,#3 misfire codes

Lets see if I can educate you

There have been no tune-ups in 25 years

You only get spark plugs
Purely an advertising gimick

Most important & a reason to stay as far way from
a dealer as possible

You went to a dealer as 500 people a week on this site
alone do,only to come here having wasted your money
& nothing is resolved

You have Cylinder Misfires & codes on 3 cyl

Don't you think they were there at the dealer &
they could care less

I have been dealing with that situation for 49 years

You need a local shop that has been there with the
same owner for 20 years or more to simple properly
diagnose a fairly simple & very very common problem

Why would make the fan stay on in a 2002 sunfire after you shut the engine off

It has an electric fan and is set to stay on to cool the car once parked nothing to worry about should cut off.

Side Mirror Turn Signals Malfunctioning.

You have hooked them up to the wrong power wire. They have to be hooked up to the power wire after the flasher control. The easist way would be to go in the engine compartment, find the back of the turn tignal, and conect the mirror power wire (red) to the power wire there. You may need more wire than what the side mirrors came with, but this would be the quickest solution

Driver's side mirror won''t stay in the mid-position

Check the hinge on the doorpost,,,its likely that the pin holding the arm that holds mid open position has sheared (look at other door and You will see how it's set up) If it;s broken you can use a small bolt or even a cut off nail to replace it!

Passenger side mirror hinge broken

These mirrors are bolted on from the inside. On the door trim, there is a triangle piece of trim that aligns with the mirror. It is seperate from the door trim. If you remove that, you will see three bolts that hold the mirror on. If yours is a 'cable' controlled mirror, the new one would have to have the cable run to where the control switch is: however, if you don't care if it is remote controlled, buy an electric one from Ebay or a junk yard and install it. Once you set the mirror, it will stay and you won't have to run any cables or wires.
