Question about 1998 GMC Yukon
Will n ot start without ether stays running after starting and restarts unless it sits for a short time
THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL PUMP PRESSURE MAY BE DROPPING OFF AFTER SHUT DOWM, THERE IS A FUEL PRESS CHECK VALVE BUILT INTO THE FUEL PUMP TO PREVENT THIS, U WILL NEED TO DO A FUEL PRESSURE LEAK DOWN TEST, IT SHOULD NOT DROP MORE THAN 5 PSI AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF, IF IT DOES THE PUMP MUST REFILL THE FILTER AND SUPPLY LINES WITH FUEL THIS CAUSES STARTS AND STALLS AND LONG CRANK TIMES.

If the engine is using a carburetor, the top gasket maybe leaking evaporating the fuel in the bowl. Check or replace the solenoid switch on the starter body.

The click is the starter solenoid. It's closing the circuit to send current to the starter motor. The starter motor is either bad or the solenoid is defective. Once in a while you have a bad connection somewhere, but 99 out of a hundred times it's one of those two. Have a local shop troubleshoot it and fix it for you. Go to work, make some money, pay the shop, everybody's happy. It's the American way.
