Question about 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse

Can't figure out how to remove the alternator from the engine, it is already disconnected, just stuck in the area it came from, can't seem to remove it.

I removed the upper and lower alternator brackets. Then I go to remove the alternator from the engine compartment and there is no way. No room at all to go down with it. It looks as though going up is the only way yet no matter how I rotate or move it i can't bring it up and out.

Jacking it up alittle bit should help just do it by the oil pan and dont go to far, otherwise you would have to remove the driver mount. but keep messing with it and im sure you will get it to come out its just a pita. take mounting brackets off make sure you get all the bolts and take wheel cover thing off if that helps.

On my 1995 eclipse i had to push the alternator up, and take off the brace it was mounted to, it is just 2 or 3 bolts and comes right off. it comes out fine then.

Fiat alternator change

You sound like your from my neck of the woods ,london? well cannot say i have done one as yet?? but you seem to have removed far too much gear for this job ,the alternator is at the back of the engine ,using some long 3/8th extensions to remove the bolts then if alternator is stuck you remove the top engine mount and jack engine up or lower it down to get the alternator out .Boy you seem to be making hard work of this job which i would expect to take about a hour tops including tea break

Recently, I changed the altenator of Toyota camry 2007 because the alternator is bad and the alternator harness connector was taped because it was broken already. The mechanics was trying to open the tape...

Costly, indeed. And dealerships don't like to fix broken things, they like to sell new parts. Guess you are stuck if you stay there. Do you know any good independent mechanics? One could probably repair it, or another alternative is a used engine harness, for less than half the cost of new.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
2.2L Engines
CHRYSLER ALTERNATOR
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

I can not figure out how to remove the alternator from a 2000 caravan w/3.3l engine. Alternator is free but I can not contort it out of the engine compartment? Any help please! Thanks Greg

I have recently done this twice to my 2000 Grand Caravan with the 3.3l engine.
1) Remove the top plate which is attached to the alternator mounting bracket held in by 3 bolts.
2) remove the alternator bolts securing the altenator to the mounting bracket.
3) pry the alternator off the bottom mounting bracket
4) turn the alternator around show you can easily see the power wires on back of the alternator and remove the 11/32 nut holding the wire to the alternator. Be careful not to drop the nut behind the engine, because you probably will never find it (experienced).
5) Disconnect the wires from the alternator
6) Remove the black cooragated tube running vertical in front of the alternator and remove the tubes hold clip from the suspension wall.
7) Slide the alrernator pully first up through the opening. You may need to rotate the alternator a little so it fits up through.

How do i remove the alternator from a 97 saab 900

You do not have to remove the wheel unless you have th 6 cylinder engine (2.3l). Then yes you do:

Disconnect Negative Battery Cable
Remove the air cleaner and hose from between the air breather/cleaner and throttle housing
Relax the belt tensioner off the belt and pry off the belt
Remove the right front wheel, black belt cover/protector, and the wheel hub nut and slide the hub off the drive shaft/outer Cv joint
Disconnect the alternator, remove the alternator/air intake hose, 2 bolts that hold the alternator in and remove it through right-hand wheel housing.

Yes, this is immensely annoying. I hope you figured it out...

How do you change the alternator on a 2002 Freelander 2.5L

On the 2002 Freelander it is in deed tricky. Basically you will need to support the front of the engine as you will be removing the front engine mount in the process of removing the lower mounting bolt from the alternator. You will also need to work the belt off the pulley without damaging it as well. The whole job takes about an hour. Be certian that you have disconnected the battery prior to starting your job.
