Question about 1993 Toyota Pickup
The speedomter would jump down when i would use the tuning signal. then the speed/ odometer wen out completely. I had the odometer sensor checked ut it was working good. could it be a short in the steering column or the sending unit
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Are you saying you removed or lowered the steering column? If you did that, and the speedometer/odometer stopped working, it's most likely because the speedometer cable either somehow got broken or it came unplugged from the back of the instrument cluster. Go under the dash, and see if you can reach the speedometer cable. If you can, make sure it fully plugged into the cluster. If it is fully installed, push the metal tab holding the cable in place, and remove the cable. Try turning the cable, does it turn freely? It should. Then try pulling the cable itself out of the sheath, if it pulls out easily, it's probably broken somewhere in the middle.

If one speed sensor goes out, it will make your speedo stop working. I believe the sensors are about 200 a piece. You'll have to take it to the dealership to find out which one is malfunctioning as there are 5 of them total (I'm pretty sure). They only charged me 30 to put it in as it is really easy and that way it is warrantied by them.
One other problem I had was with the electric brake controller on my truck went haywire and when I disconnected it, my speedo came back to life.
Hope this helps!

Try changing out your turn signal flasher.it might be under your dash by your fuse box. Some trucks have two one for turn signals one for 4 way flashers.By all means check the fuse first.
