Question about Hyundai Motor 1998 Accent

No high-beam headlights

Hey there,I have a 1998 Hyundai Accent and just noticed recently that high-beams arent working. The low-beams are ok but when I switch, the lights go out altogether-all I have are parklights. The day lights only work sometimes so I`m thinking problems are related? I checked all fuses with a testlight and examined relays under the hood. If I hold in on dimmer-switch lever for a quick second ,I see high-beams so I know bulbs are ok. I`m thinking the dimmer switch but dont want to purchase one on a guess. Any thoughts?

When I flip my high beam lever to indicate that I am passing or want to pass, I get a sound like the transmission goes out of gear, all lights go out, still have control of the car; then,in a split second, everything returns like nothing happened. My dealership has checked the 3 computers in the car - 09 Sonata - and found nothing wrong. Now what?

It may not be the switch; most hi-lo changes are via relay to prevent the higher currents from flowing through light-duty switches.

Locate the relay cluster (it might be near or with the fuses) and if they aren't marked, pull wach one of them and plug back in several times to wipe possible corrosion from the blade contacts.

If they are marked, look to see if the same relay is used elsewhere (part number should be visible) and swap them temporarily to see if the relay is at fault.

Some vehicles will use separate relays for hi-lo beams and another for flashing since that often turns on both beams momentarily.

I tried swapping relays but problem persists so I`m thinking dimmer switch is only thing left? Thanx

My day time running lights are work as do my high beams, however my low beams do not, but i thought they were all the same bulb? Also, now by fog lights won't come on -only work when low beams work

Your fogs only working when low beams are on is normal, as far as your low beam lights not working, I would have the headlight switch checked, or check for a bad fuse or possibly a relay if your car has a light relay. Some do and some don't, I am not that familiar with your model of car to tell you for sure.

My low beam lights sometimes stop working i still have high beam and daylight runing lights after a while they come on.2009 elantra dealer can't find problem.

when the low beams quit try switching from high to low and back and see if low beams stay on, if they do it may be the dimmer switch, if that doesn't change anything suspect the headlight switch.

High-low beams not working

Check for headlight relay and fuse. Some cars have separate circuits for head light flasher and normal high/low beam. From your description, I would suspect a bad connection to/from relay or relay itself.
