no year, strike1 no country ,stike2 (you posted to USA forum, yah?) no real name of engine, gee is a diesel, omg. really. seem the 2.5VM is chain drive, so..??? strike 3 your out, does that work in Cricket(sp)
is this the Italian VM engine? diesel. that be like good to know what engine there is no 2.5L gas (petrol) here that is belt drive,
VM Motori S.p.A. is an Italian diesel engine manufacturing company which is wholly owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles through its subsidiary Fiat Group Automobiles. VM headquarters and main production facilities are located in Cento, in Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
in conclusion you dont know whats there, so neither do I.
Put engine on TDC compression stroke. Remove all that is in the way. Lock cams in place with special tool or use rags on non-machined part of cams. Remove belt tensioner, remove and replace belt per instructions that come with new belt. Install new tensioner, unlock cams, reassemble. For better instructions, buy a cheap shop manual that will have photos and torque specs.
you need a chilton repair manual with information and diagrams showing how to remove timing belt or chain depend what engine you have 2.0 or 2.7 has two timing chain you need engine lift or crane support engine weight when you remove upper intake manifold and front engine mount before you can remove front timing cover to replace tensioners.you need all basic mechanic tool set.
You need to purchase a Haynes Manual or better. They are very common in your nearest chain part store. Like Autozone, Advance, Napa. More than likely you will have to set the crankshaft at TDC. "top dead center" and allign the two marks with the cam shaft! Watch when you put tension on the belt it will move the camshaft sprocket! And throw it back out of time.
Dont tell me you removed all the wires at once without marking them? :O
The best advise for that is, to remove one wire and plug at a time then replace the plug, and connect the wire back in place to avoid mix ups...
I have spec tables for that car, but you need to help me with the model, whats the year model, 92 or 97?
Remove your radiator, water pump, and anything else blocking the front of the engine. remove the timing belt cover and there is the belt. The best advice I can give on exact specs is to purchase a Haynes manual. It will give exact specs on lining up timing marks, resetting the timing, and torque specs of all things involved
if u mean set the timing....u need the proper tools .....and specs ....and if you have changed timing belts or chains .....replacement procedure is very precise....;-)....but with proper timing light an specs setting timing is relatively easy........but in order to tell u i need to know what timing light ur using....
