Sounds like a classic fuel pump failure, they are notoriously unpredictable and can be difficult to diagnose.

Do you mean Mass Air Flow Meter? I am not aware of a Moss Flow Valve...

There are 2 relays in the relay box that could cause this problem the EEC relay and the FUEL pump relay the best test for EEC relay back probe the throttle position sensor for the 5 volts reference signal run engine and watch to see if you lose this voltage. and fuel pump relay install a fuel pressure gauge to fuel rail service port and check to see if pressure drops to zero.

01 Nissan Altima cuts off at red lights

Hi Nichelle, Take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. If the engine sounds smooth and is running well, I do not believe you need an new engine. What is more likely is a defective fuel pump or fuel regulator. A very common fault on Nissans is the mass air flow sensor, which sounds as if it is the problem with your vehicle. Regards John

1998 nissan maxima reads EGR flow maintenance on diagnostic and cuts off sometime when i come to a stop or let off the gas?!?!?!?!?!

A good vacuum chamber doesn't mean the egr valve isn't sticking or leaking.

The recorded fault might have nothing at all to do with the periodic stalling. The management system should maintain the idle at the programmed speed by constantly adjusting the idle air flow through the idle air valve or equivalent. Perhaps it is sticking or not responding quickly enough or perhaps it takes too long to establish a stable idle due to other factors such as poor injector spray patterns or a tired oxygen or other sensor...

My car keeps cutting off in traffic. I always have to restart it.

Theres only a few sensors that are needed for the car to run and will shut it off if they cut out. The Mass Air Flow Sensor (on or near the air box), or the Crank Sensor (which is screwed into the engine block) is probably faulty and turning off the car temperarily when it looses signal. take it to a kia shop and have them check those vital sensors with a kia computer diag tool. that will tell you everythingyou need to know. they might charge you .5 hour diagonostic time but its better then the hassle and expence of replacing parts

Motor cutting out

A few things to check.
  1. Is fuel pump delivering enough fuel.
  2. Is injectors clean. Perhaps dirt in fuel. replace fuel filter
  3. Air leakage at top air intake of manifold at ICV idle control valve. Two hoses inside this housing prone to perishing.
  4. Throttle position sensor faulty.
  5. Mass air flow sensor faulty.
  6. ICV faulty or dirty. comon fault on older e36.
Havent done it yet but ICV is easy to clean according to internet. instruction available at bmw e36 blog. All off above can be tested by yourself according to manual.
