Question about 1988 Dodge D-Series Pickups
The transmission in my pickup seems to be having a problem. The battery and alternator are shot, but when I have the battery fully charged the transmission will work fine. Once the battery is drained and the motor is still running, the transmission will not longer work. Is there a component that uses electricity that can stop the transmission from running?
Truck just had atune up took for A short drive would not down shift would this be the transmisson filter? and were would I find this.

Dodge uses e solenoids to shift the trans.I am not sure on an 88 but this sounds like why it acts up when drained.
repair your charging system and should be fine
