Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Electric, dome lights, dash display, radio

So it is most likely fuse? Could the fuse have blown from trying to push the dome light a bunch to get it to turn off? What could be causing the clicking noise coming from light (or around light)?

The noise is quicker than every second but it is consistent. Maybe 3-5 per second and the frequency is the same.

  • shideon Aug 26, 2008

No I haven't yet. Won't be able to until tomorrow. I also commented in the original post that my power locks are not working either. Don't know if you saw that.

Anyway I will check out the fuses tomorrow unless the broken power locks change that idea.

I don't want to rate your help until it's solved because... well it's not "fixya" yet and it's not really anything lower either but thank you for your help so far. I will post another comment as more arises... thanks!

Hi, I have the same exact problem. It started after I removed and reinstalled the overhead dome to glue a portion of the headliner that was loose. Could someone post what the solution was for this issue?

Probably it's a short circuit.
is the noise at the same frequency let's say every second or the frequency varies?

Yes, probably it's a fuse.
Try to remove the fuses one by one and check if there is a broken one and replace it.

Where is the radio fuse on a 1995 camry? I do not see a fuse box under dash.

1.Answer It is a 15A fuse (#24), located in the instrument panel fuse box (behind the small fold out draw on lower the left side of dash board. Left of the steering wheel). It is the far right fuse on the middle row.

2. I had the same problem when my dome light went off. When I pulled its blown fuse, the radio went out. The radio fuse was fine, but when I replaced the dome light fuse, the radio came back on again. The dome light fuse is a 20A in the fuse box under the hood next to the battery.

3.there is on fuse in the back of the radio itself

No power to sterio, over head dome lights, or Dash lights.

I think there should be another fuse for the dash lights and radio and dome (or interior or courtesy it may be designated). Recheck all of those fuses under the dash, I believe one has blown out. This is when a wiring diagram comes in handy-you can see the fuse lay-out, and what circuits each one serves.

Radio wont hol memory, dome light wont work when key switch off, and All lock wont unlock doors unless key in on.

Probably a fuse. You radio keeps it's memory using a constant power wire which is probably interlinked with the dome light, door locks, etc. Check fuses under the dash as well as under the hood for any blown fuses. Look for fuses labeled with your listed problems of things that don't work.

ist definitly a blown fuse/circut breaker. take test light connected to a good ground recheck both sides of all fuses. be sure to turn dome light on when checking/ also check under hood for another fuse panel, also in glove box,and lh kick panel.
