The car was fine for about 30kilos and then suddenly started to overheat.
The water tanh was still full
Probably a stuck thermostat - it happens on these cars. If you have a 1.8T engine, it's a pretty easy fix. If you have a 2.8 V6, you might as well do the timing belt service, since the whole belt and tensioner have to come off to access the thermostat - major teardown involved.
