The key you had made throw it in the trash can because newer cars have a code chip in them and if try to use any other key the car will eventually quit running

My 2002,ford focus se 5 SPD won't start at all no sound when key is turned. When key is in start position no dash lights come on and my anti theft light above hazards blinks continuously any ideas?

Verify battery condition by turning on headlights and seeing if they are bright. If ok, the theft system may be activated. Try locking and unlocking doors with the key fob. This will usually reset the theft deterent system.

2005 grand prix wont start, saying service theft system.

The problem is either gonna be in the key itself or the theft deterent module which is what the key cylinder is in thats what reads the key. Yes you can do all of that reset if you want but eventually it not gonna work and who wants to do that all the time. Remember its either the key or the theft deterent module J byrd Automotive

I changed the battery in my 2001 grand am ....now it won't start

mine does the same thing, but my security light flashes. I was told that it is the security system on the car not recognizing the key. The key I am using is the original key for the car though. I was told that a quick (but not so quick) fix is to open the door, put the key in, turn it on but don't start it.... set for roughly 10 minutes so the car will reset itself. It works everytime but is a pain in the ****. Was told the only way to completely fix the problem would be to put a new motor in it.

When I get inside and try to start the car it won't start and the theft light on the dashbord just keeps blinking.

I don't know what type vehicle you have but it sounds like you theft deterent module is activated. Look in your owners manual and it should tell you the procedures for deactivating the theft deterent module. Last one I deactavated was a 2001 GMC, key "ON" key "OFF" key "ON" key "OFF" key "ON" and let sit for 20 minutes, then try to start the engine. Good luck, Gary

Starter won't turn over, could it be due to anti-theft or theft deterent system? What can i do

If the anti-theft light is flashing then it is in theft mode. If this is the case turn the key on and wait 1 hour then cycle the key to see if it starts if it does you have a anti-theft problem see dealer. sorry.

1999 Chevy Lumina won't turn over...new battery

If your lumina has a Pass II key, it may well be the ignition lock cylinder on the steering column. The car key has a resistor staked on the sides of it which is read by the theft deterent module. The theft deterent module issues a command to the ignition relay and the fuel injectors when it reads a correct resistance from the key. If the lock cylinder is damage( broken wire) ect. the theft deterent module will not be able to read the key. Unfortunately, if you have a Lumina with a solid shroud around the steering column, the dealer will charge you $700-$1200 to replace the cylinder.
Good luck
