TRUCK SHUTS OFF AT IDLE

I recently changed the fuel pressure regulator on a 91 s10 with a fuel injected 4 cylinder.it fixed my rough idleing problem and ran like a champ. but a couple days later the check engine light came on and the fuel shuts off a idle,it runs good with my foot on the pedal.i keep hearing a beeping around the engine while it is running and when it shuts off you can hear the computer clicking for a few seconds.i know its not the filters and its not the fuel pump because it runs while giving it gas, maybe the iac valve ?will that cause it to stop the fuel from going through the injector

Check the egr valve it sound to me that its stuck open and if this happens excessive exaust gases are flooding the intake or you might have a vacuum leak either one of these problems will make a high pitch sound

My '91 GMC Jimmy suddenly died like it was out of gas. It restarts, but idles rough, sputters and pulses. Plenty of fuel comes out of the injectors, but it wants to stall and die.

start at the beginning fuel pump pressure at the pressure regulator then look for ignition problems , check mass air flow sensor if equiped

Why do I still have a Rough Idle and P0300

I have encountered this before and it was the vacuum supply line from intake to the fuel pressure regulator sucking fuel through regulator. it could also be more serious like intake gaskets

Express van runs rough at idle changed fuel pump but didnt fix it could it be a fuel pressure regulator?

or possible sticking spider injector need to do a injector balance test but they are common for bad fuel pressure regulators they are located inside intake on injector assembly

My 91 oldsmobile 98 runs rough in idle but when driving run smooth.

Rough idle is a very common problem on 4 cylinders, but I believe the 98 Regency has a 6 cylinder in it, right?

Sometimes the coil packs get iffy, and sometimes the EGR Valve gets a leak in it causing a rough idle.

When the accelerator pedal is depressed, it can change things so that the engine seems to run smoothly.

However, I would look for codes to see if anything intermittent is occurring in the engine that may need attention.

The OBD-I scanner can help to diagnose the problem, if anything is out of specifications on the engine in question.

The owner will have to find a technician that has such a scanner.

Rough idle and slow take off at any light. Hardly any horse power

sounds to me like vaccum issue. unless its fuel injected, then probably check your fuel pressure regulator.

2000 Chevy s10 2.2L very rough idle at low rpm

run a fuel pressure test, if that checks out fine it may be a faulty coil pack or ignition control module

5.3 L Missing and Rough Idle Intermittently

i have a 2001 chevy z-71 5.3L. I keep getting a random/multiple misfire code for cylinder 1 . I have replaced plugs, wires, coil pack(only on #1 cylinder)., and fuel pump. I still keep getting the cylinder 1 misfire code. I put truck on a scanner and watched the cylinders. # 1 misfires at idle but quickly stops misfiring at around 1000 rpms. you can here the engine miss at idle but truck runs great on road . anyone else ever had this problem?

Could be one of many things:

-Clogged fuel filter
-Leaking fuel line
-Bad fuel pump
-High or low oil level
-Overdue oil change (Will explain both these possible causes later)
-Bad high pressure oil pump, ICP sensor (injection control pressure sensor), ICR (injection control pressure regulator), or bad HEUI injectors, or oil lines
-Leak in the high pressure oil system (unlikely because you would have noticed this... This does not go undetected as the underside of your vehicle would be literally covered in oil and dripping in a very short period of time after the leak develops)
(Powerstroke engines use a HEUI fuel injection system, "Hydraulically actuated/electronically controlled unit injection", which relies on a high pressure hydraulic pump that uses engine crankcase oil and pumps it at high pressure (500 psi or so). This oil is sent to your fuel injectors to provide means for actuating them and pressurizing the fuel into the cylinders. High or low engine oil level, or old, diluted, additive depleted oil will cause this system to aerate the oil and result in poor fuel injection capabilities)

There might be other causes but this is the Powerstroke`s weak point... The HEUI system was first designed by Caterpillar, which makes a lot of excellent/bulletproof HEUI based engines, both in passenger vehicle and heavy trucks and equipment. The Powerstroke is an engine designed and made by International Truck and Engine, which cannot seem to make a HEUI engine, in any market, whether passenger, heavy truck, or equipment that does not suffer from fuel injection issues.
