You didn't mention which engine you have but I'm going to guess you have the 1.8L 8V, but you can refer to your "Emissions Control" label in the engine compartment for exact timing specs. You will need a timing gun to get it right on,by marking the timing mark on the fly wheel you will need a 27mm hex end tool to remove the plastic timing cap on the transmission to expose the timing mark on the flywheel (unless it is already gone like most old vdubs). There is alot of variables depending on which engine you have I recommend picking up a "Haynes" VW repair manual it has all the info for setting timing correctly. If your vdub doesn't have the Emissions Label just call up any Volkswagen dealer give them your car info and they can give you the degrees of timing. Good Luck

How do I remove the ignition switch?

i had to do this once, you actually have to drill a small hole near the ignition switch to press a hidden button. i would strongly suggest getting the manual for that job. so you don't drill the wrong place.

How do I remove the ignition switch on a 1991 volkswagen golf?

first buy new one. look at the new one where to dril a little hole in aluminium housing. this to push the spring to hold the lock. have to take off steeringwheel, covers for switches, switches. then you reach part you search. good luck, nice job.
