My pontiac g6 sometimes the brake lights are on while driving and off when i brake. what could be the problem. when i take it to the garage, they tell me it is working fine.

What garage ? GM dealer ? What year is the vehicle ? The brake pedal position sensor is a input to the BCM - body control module.
The BCM turns on the brake lights . If the brake lights are coming on without your foot pushing the pedal , could have a DTC- diagnostic trouble code stored . Which Brake light ? all or just the top center high mount ? There is a stop lamp relay which powers just the top center high mount brake lights .
DTC B3903 Stop Lamp Relay Circuit
DTC C0277 Brake Pedal Position Sensor Circuit
DTC C0278 - This DTC will set if the brake position sensor is out of calibration.
C0870 Device Voltage Reference Output Circuit
C0870 03
A short to ground or an open in the BPP sensor voltage reference circuit is present.
C0870 07
A short battery positive voltage in the BPP sensor voltage reference circuit is present.
Without testing an viewing BCM scan data i would be only guessing as to what the problem is . Try another repair shop .

My brake lights stay on until I begin to press the brakes my car. When I press the brakes on my car, the brake light won't turn on and won't turn back on. Does this mean I need to replace my brake...

on your brake pedal yuo have a switch to turn off the brake lights when not in use and when depressed turns on yuor brake lights. i would suggest either trying to adjust them on the pedal and if not replace the switch.

My break lights turn on by them self why?

FEBRUARY 2009 -- GM is recalling 8,012 MY 2005-2006 Pontiac G6 vehicles. The brake lamps may not operate properly because of corrosion in a wiring connector. Corrosion in the connector could cause the brake lamps to illuminate when the brake pedal has not been depressed, or the lamps may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed. In addition, the cruise control may not engage, and greater brake pedal force may berequired to shift the vehicle out of PARK. Brake lamps that are not operating properly may not warn a driver in a following vehicle of the braking status and could lead to a crash without prior warning. Dealers will apply a dielectric lubricant to the connector to prevent corrosion. This service will be performed for you free of charge. The recall began on February 17, 2009. Owners may contact Pontiac at 1- 800-620-7668 or owner center at This recall was the subject of a Preliminary Evaluation, PE08-054, conducted by the Office of Defects Investigation. 09V-036

My brake lights stay on can u help?

Check brake pedal sensor. Located behind the brake pedal itself, a faulty sensor could be telling your car the brake is engaged while in actuality it isn't.
