Question about 2002 Daewoo Lanos

1 Answer

Fuel Reg........ I'm stumped. Car starts, runs great, dies when I make a left turn. Seems to starve for fuel. Right turns are fine. Should fuel system maintain fuel pressure even after car sitting for a while? I checked pressure at fuel rail service port. sometimes it is pressurized, other times nothing, is that normal, and what are the symptoms of a failing fuel regulator? Replaced fuel pump motor recently but wondering if I might have an internal leak within the fuel pump module, which might be the cause of pressure loss?

Fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI in 24 hours, the symptom you have is more than one issue, first verify the system holds fuel pressure over night, the pressure regulator will not cause this issue, the check valve built into the fuel pump will. On to the dieing concern, clean the idle speed control air bypass valve and the throttle valve with throttle body cleaner spray with the engine running at high idle, spray in at least 1/2 can of the cleaner, next disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then drive for 2 days under varying conditions to "relearn the idle strategy".

Engine cranks fine, but will only run 5-6 sec then dies. If you press the gas, it sputters and dies immediately.

Seems like a fuel delivery problem.
May be a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or a fuel line problem.

What car make/model? What engine?

When it dies, try to turn ignition off immediately, wait a couple of seconds and turn the key quickly to the crank position (don't wait with the key in ignition-on position so that the fuel pump doesn't try to pump fuel into the fuel lines).
If it hesitates to start or runs significantly shorter before dying, you have pinpointed a problem with the fuel system.

Pls let me know what you find out.

Runs fine then it trys to die and runs very ruff acts like its starving for fuel changed fuel filter and still does it ?

Check the fuel pump pressure.
Also; when you use gas with ethanol, it attracts humidity that can turn into water during storage.
The answer is premium fuel.

I'm having trouble starting the car. When it idols the RPM's pulsates up-and-down and then it stalls. Once under way the car seems to run fine but without any warning it will die as I start to

check air filter, might be plugged, [dirty so engine is starving for air.] check fuel lines & filters, dirt blockage need replaceing, check for fuel leaks in lines etc, uses fuel & then sucks air causing it to stop, listen to see if fuel pump is running properly & not stuttering could be short in it's wiring

Turn 92 Escort 5 speed to right & engine goes dead even in a curv

if you jack up the right side of the car while its running does it die?...........just thinking that maybe the pickup has fallen off of the fuel pump in the gas tank so when the fuel moves to the left side of the tank the end of the pump may not be immersed in fuel.
hope this helps...keep me posted its definitely an interesting problem.....Good luck!

I think in most cases you may have a weak fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter. Even though your fuel system is run by pressure it doesn't always prevent the car from stalling if the engine is starved because of a bad filter or faulty fuel pump

1989 Cabriolet Fuel Delivery problem

yes,it's your computer module
it's dying or so.
it's the one cutting off the fuel system
i've seen that more than once
the fixer it's to replace the module.
but first to be sure.
unplug it for about 10 minutes.
then plug it back on
and test it and see what happens, if it runs fine for a while then definetly that's your problem.
or have your computer checked.
