Question about 2001 Dodge Durango
Fan is loose, making noise
"loose" is a relative term. The fan in the protective shroud is a "freewheeling" fan and is not directly connected to anything. Its design is a off-center centrifuge (high speed spin) at idle, the fan may or may not spin, and when the engine is reved at a higher speed the off-center design will cause the fan to spin up to faster speeds.
I own a 2000 Durango and own a manufactures shop manual the mechanic use $120/book.
The other possibility of noise is a twig, branch, bird, cat that might have gotten down/up in there and now the blades are hitting it. Noise is vague term, describing would help.
