1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo ... no spark and no fuel pressure
Jeep just up and died. Hasn't started since. All electrical works except...no spark at coil, cap, or plugs. Master fuses test fine.
If it were just the fuel pump, why no spark? If it were ignition or electrical, it's the only other logical choice.

Re: 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo ... no spark and no fuel...
Sounds like your crankshaft position sensor has failed it is located on the bellhousing and has a thick black lead off it with a three wire plug, also it should have 1 ten mm bolt holding it in place, this provides an impulse signal for spark and fuel injector pulse and the car wont run without it -jeff ps please rate and goodluck http://www.autopart.com/CrankSensor/CrankSensor1992JEEPCHEROKEE.htm this is also a suspect part but my money is on the crank sensor, this part is this camshaft sensor located in the distributer and will not kill the fuel in most cases just spark http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?catalog=301&partnum=C1929&a=FR301-C1929

look for low fuel pressure or ignition control module
Check for spark at plugs, fuel pressure key on/engine off, and last compression test. If no spark, check all fuses then ignition module/coil. If no fuel pressure, check fuses, relay and listen for pump noise for two seconds or so after key on. If low compression, check timing belt (if any).
You might not believe this, but check your battery. Some of these vehicles have cut-outs when the battery level goes below a preset amount.
I work on Ford brands and on them, a low battery level will even disconnect the Alternator circuit and mess with the starter. Some even act up when the battery slightly dips below 12 volts.
Your antitheft can make your starter cut out. And If you think about it, all of the measurements to make the engine run are based on feedback of voltage and amperage. This is how the engine management system adjusts. If your prime source of power is low, then all of the following electrical readings will be low. Some may be too low to work.
Your fuelpump will hold pressure in a closed system for hours. The fuel pressure regulator will command the fuelpump to stop working if the fuel pressure is at maximum. Without responses from the other components and after satisfactory pressure, the fuelpump will turn off.
Having same issue with my 2000 grand cherokee. sometimes fuel pump will prime and car starts the other 50% of time no fuel pump noise only smaller radiator fan will come on and make vibrating whining noise. I have changed out fuel pump and filter as well as checked and ruled out all fuses/relays involved. Need help too
cj2176 is correct, we need a lttle more info. Sounds like it will need a new fuel pump or something related to it. Since it starts on starting fluid it has compression and air and spark, just no fuel. Fuel pumps can just stop working while driving, and if not working obviously will not start. No caodes will be set for a fuel pump not working. If it cranks but does not start have someone pound on the bottom of the fuel tank with a fist or small rubber mallet lightly (don't damage the tamk) while your cranking the engine. If it starts, the fuel pump module in the tank is bad.
