I've not had her for a year yet. do you think My transmission is screwed? is it safe to drive? meaning will my transmission just go out?

Hi hotglass04. Your transmission will need to be rebuilt, or as you say, screwed. You can drive it home, just be sure to avoid all areas where you may need reverse, park out in the open, for instance. I feel you can drive it for as long as you have to, just stay away from trying to shift into reverse.

Starting in about the mid 1980's automatic transmissions changed from fluid shifting to electronic shifting. In other words, your shift is by an electronic solenoid controlled by the computer. There is no Shift cable gong to the transmission. Just wires. You need to look for a loose or dirty electronic connection to the transmission.

I have a 2003 mits eclipse spider. Never had any problems until now. Driving 45mph and car dies I lose all power with no gears not even reverse. Acts as if transmission went out. Towed it home drained...

it would help if i knew if it was and automatic or manual transmission. in either case most transmissions have magnets in the drain pan to keep metal particles from re entering the system. so simply removing the drain plug wont tell you much. other than that without know weather or not its and auto or manual i cant help you out. please clarify and im sure we can find a solution

Broke hood opener cable on my 2003 eclipse spyder any way to open it without it?

You need a long hook or a screw driver and go in through the front grill and move the latch back.

Clutch removal

You have to insert a screwdriver through a hole in the bottom of the transmission. while pushing the fork away from the engine you push the retainer clip with the screwdriver blade. it should release the bearing and cause the cluch fork to move freely toward the engine. It may take you a few tries to do this. This is whats known as an reverse pressure plate assembly. I think its kinda stupid idea. If only the designers would look at what it takes to work on these things......m2242202_00014.png
