The radiator fan is most likely to blame. When the temp goes above the normal level the fan should kick on.. If it does not, you need to troubleshoot the rad fan. (Under hood etectrical box, fuse / relay/ etc.)
Also there are 2 of them (fans). The 2nd one is a booster for when the AC is on, to dissapate more heat. Try turning on the AC and see if 2nd fan kicks on. This can often help prevent serious overheating.
Good luck.
Testimonial: "THANK YOU I PUT A TEMP GUAGE ON THE RADIATOR FAN AND IT'S COMING ON AND TURNING OFF TO SOON."
Hi,
Could you please just clarify a few things:
1-Is the fan coming on before the gauge goes to red?
2-Is the replacement thermostat original?
3-Is the water coming out of the overflow pipe
4-Have you checked the water and oil to see if there is any white residue?
If you can get back to me with these I am sure I can help
Thank you
I had this problem. Solution was get a new thermistor (spelling is correct). It's a plug in temperature switch at the top of the rad. Many people say getting a new tad solves it but most new rads come with a new thermistor. No doubt. Cheap too.
