Question about 1999 Ford Windstar

TRANSMITION PROBLEM BACKED OUT OF DRIVE WAY, HEARD LOUD CLANK, TRANSMITION FUELED STARTED POURING OUT. NOW IT WILL NOT GO IN DRIVE. REVERSE IS OK???

    THANKS, I'LL TRY THAT TOMORROW. I HAVE READ A REVIEW WHERE SOMEONE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THE FORD SERVICE PERSON TOLD THEM THEY BLEW A FRONT PART IN HALF AND OTHER GEARS WHERE BROKEN BY THAT PROBLEM.

Sounds like you blew out the front pump . the trans will have to be removed
i would taking it to a trans repair shop (much better than a general repair shop andmuch cheaper)

if it is a 4 wheel drive sounds like your rear axle may have been cooked do to low fluid bad bearing or both check fluid level nad look for any kind of metal specs in fluid .

If it is an automatic transmission, first check the fluid level. If it is low, fill it up and try it again. If the level is fine, then there is a bigger issue and you should seek a professional's help.

When I start my 96 Camaro Z28 there is a loud clank sound that happens only once. Still Starts. It only happens on start-up and is pretty loud.


the starter may need to be shimmed. could be the drive gear is getting hung up on the flywheel and when engine speeds up it slams it back

The light issue was your computer recanizing that thare was and isue with your trans and did the service engine soon light go on when this happend.
Well it sounds like you need a new trans not cheap

It sounds like you broke what is called a sun gear drive shell its a common problem with that trans.
