White smoke tail pipe wont gasket

You have a "blown head gasket" This means that the gasket seal between the cylinder head and the cylinder block has failed. Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber (cylinder) and being heated into steam.. If you carefully smell the exhaust FROM A DISTANCE, don't stick your nose in the tail pipe, you will detect a sweetness to the steam from the glycol in the coolant. Now you need to either get a quote to have it done, or research how to do it yourself. If you are NOT a fair to decent mechanic, then don't try doing yourself.
If you pull the spark plugs you can narrow down the area where it's failed. The CLEAN plug is where it is.

Convert dual exhaust on 99 sunfire gt to single?

You can cut out the Y pipe and replace it with a flex pipe from parts store, then clamp each end of the flex pipe, the pipe diameter will be 1-7/8 or 2 inch, also for the pipe replacement piece would work from a sunfire or cavalier from 1995 and up, might need to replace the muffler strap too. as it can break from rusting, if not already rusted and broken.

After changing thermosat car is now smoking a lillte from the driver side radiator area

Smoking where.? tail pipe end.?
over heats, when, moving at 60mph
or only stopped.?
if that smoke is during a hot running motor, and is steam
the head gasket blew (or worse)
oil smoke burnt lingers a long time, steam goes away fast like tea pot.
smoke smells like burned oil, steam smells disgusting sweet due to
the coolant is 1/2 Glycol.
over heating has many reasons.
only stopped?, bad rad, bad pump, bad stat, bad fan clutch.(or elect fan)
fails to over heat moving, usually is bad fan (action)
steam at tail is coolant burning.

My 1997 mercury cougar is running on the VERY high side of hot

check to see that the electric fans are turning on when they are supposed to, and make sure the coolant is full and that the rad cap is good. Bad radiator caps are one of the most common overheating causes

Car is over heating back boiling

My 1994 Acura Legend over heats. There isn't any coolant in the oil, nor white steam coming out of the tail pipe. All hoses are tight and no leaks are noted. The fans are working properly. However, there is back boiling in the radiator and loss of coolant...

What is causing this ?

Tail Pipe Replacement on a 72 VW Beetle

Heat the area by the muffler with a torch. Try not to heat the tail pipes themselves. Then take a pair of channel locks and wiggle them out.
