Question about 1998 Jeep Wrangler

I cannot get the entire heater out of my 98 Jeep Wrangler sport

I have pulled the dash and removed 5 nuts and the heater hose from the engine compartment also 1 bolt inside the car. the unit is loose, but there seems to be another nut or something holding it back. Can you help me with this?

With the proper tools you can get it done.look from the back side if there is a space to get it removed.keep me updated

How to change heater core on 1988 jeep wrangler


old car. with A/C or with out. we cant guess this..

  2. remove housing
  3. remove core. (easy but what is step 2)

housing. no A/C
step 2. expanded.
  1. Disconnect the heater hoses at the engine side of the firewall.
  2. Detach the heater control cables.
  3. Disconnect the motor wiring.
  4. Detach the water drain hose and the defroster hose.
  5. Remove the nuts from the studs in the engine compartment.
  6. Tilt the heater housing assembly down and pull it back toward the inside of the vehicle.
  7. Remove the attaching screws and the blower motor.

Why is no water going throw my heater hoses


something stopped up. pull off the heater hoses where they connect to the engine. 98% sure that one or both are plugged with rust and stuff.

Location of heater assembly fire wall bolts and how to remove heater core on my 1993 YJ Wrangler?


you will need to remove the heater housing(air box) . the blower is mounted in it. start by removing the control cables (slide your heater controls and you will see them move under the dash),they just snap in place.be careful not to break the plastic tabs. unhook the defroster tube(looks like a corrugated paper pipe in the center and on the top of the housing). unplug the wire harness in the upper corner of the passenger side. now under the hood remove both heater hoses. then remove the four mounting nuts on the firewall [they are 7/16] . one nut is on right side of the battery.one just left of the battery. one is under the battery toward the bottom of the firewall.the 4th is by the left rear corner of the valve cover. there may be an accelerator cable loom snapped over this stud,it just pries off. lay a towel or rags on passenger floor to catch any anti freeze. with all 4 nuts now removed,pull the housing away from the firewall.you may have to tilt the bottom out slightly. once the housing is removed take it to your work bench. There will be a metal panel on the fire wall side of the air box remove the screws to remove this panel to gain access to the heater core. fairly simple,but the nut under the battery can be a pain to get to.

Heater core


No, you don't have to pull the whole dash board but you have to pull a few panels....here is the steps on how to get to it and remove and replace it:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system and disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes. Plug the hoses and the heater core tubes to prevent coolant leakage.

CAUTION NEVER open, service or drain the radiator or cooling system when hot; serious burns can occur from the steam and hot coolant. Also, when draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantities. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.


  1. Remove the 3 nuts located below the windshield wiper motor attaching the left end of the plenum to the dash panel. Remove the 1 nut retaining the upper left corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.

Plenum removal—1990-98 vehicles

  1. Disconnect the vacuum supply hose(s) from the vacuum source. Push the grommet and vacuum supply hose(s) into the passenger compartment.
  2. Remove the right and left lower instrument panel insulators.
  1. On 1989 vehicles:
  2. Remove the 3 glove compartment hinge screws, disconnect the check arms and remove the glove compartment.
  3. Loosen the right door sill plate and remove the right side cowl trim panel.
  4. Remove the bolt attaching the lower right end of the instrument panel to the side cowl.
  5. Remove the instrument panel pad as follows:
    • Remove the 2 screws attaching the pad to the instrument panel at each defroster opening. Be careful not to drop the screws into the defroster openings.
    • Remove the one screw attaching each outboard end of the pad to the instrument panel.
    • On Crown Victoria, remove one pad attaching screw near the upper right corner of the glove compartment door.
    • Remove the 5 screws attaching the lower edge of the pad to the instrument panel. Pull the instrument panel pad rearward and remove it from the vehicle.
  6. On 1990-98 vehicles:
  7. Remove all instrument panel mounting screws and pull the instrument panel back as far as it will go without disconnecting any wiring harnesses.
  8. Make sure the nuts attaching the instrument panel braces to the dash panel are removed.
  9. Loosen the right door sill plate and remove the right side cowl trim panel.
  10. If equipped with manual air conditioning, disengage the temperature control cable housing from the bracket on top of the plenum. Disconnect the cable from the temperature blend door crank arm.
  11. If equipped with Automatic Temperature Control (ATC), proceed as follows:
  12. On 1989 vehicles, disconnect the temperature control cable from the ATC sensor.
  13. Detach the vacuum harness line connector from the ATC sensor harness and detach the electrical connector from the ATC servo connector.
  14. On 1990-98 vehicles, remove the cross body brace and disconnect the wiring harness from the temperature blend door actuator. Detach the ATC sensor tube from the evaporator case connector.
  15. Detach the vacuum jumper harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct.
  16. Disconnect the white vacuum hose from the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor.

Floor air distribution duct removal—1990-98 vehicles
  1. Remove the 2 hush panels.
  2. Remove 1 plastic push fastener retaining the floor air distribution duct to the left end of the plenum.
  3. Remove the left screw and loosen the right screw on the rear face of the plenum and remove the floor air distribution duct.
  4. Remove the 2 nuts from the 2 studs along the lower flange of the plenum.

Heater core removal—1990-98 vehicles

  1. Carefully move the plenum rearward to allow the heater core tubes and the stud at the top of the plenum to clear the holes in the dash panel. Remove the plenum from the vehicle by rotating the top of the plenum forward, down and out from under the instrument panel. Carefully pull the lower edge of the instrument panel rearward, as necessary, while rolling the plenum from behind the instrument panel.
  2. On 1989 vehicles with ATC, remove the ATC servo from the plenum.
  3. Remove the 4 retaining screws from the heater core cover and remove the cover from the plenum assembly.
  4. Pull the heater core and seal assembly from the plenum assembly.
To install:
  1. Carefully install the heater core and seal assembly into the plenum assembly. Visually check to ensure that the core seal is properly positioned. Position the heater core cover and install the 4 retaining screws.
  2. On 1989 vehicles with ATC, install the ATC servo on the plenum.
  3. Route the vacuum supply hose through the dash panel and seat the grommet in the opening.
  4. Position the plenum under the instrument panel with the register duct opening up and the heater core tubes down. Rotate the plenum up behind the instrument panel and position the plenum to the dash panel. Insert the heater core tubes and mounting studs through their respective holes in the dash panel and the evaporator case.
  5. Install the 3 nuts on the studs along the lower flange and one on the upper flange of the plenum. Install the 3 nuts below the windshield wiper motor to attach the left end of the plenum to the dash panel and the one nut to retain the upper left corner of the evaporator case to the dash panel.
  6. Position the floor air distribution duct on the plenum. Install the 2 screws and plastic push fastener. If removed, position the panel door vacuum motor to the mounting bracket and install the 2 attaching screws.
  7. Connect the white vacuum hose to the outside-recirculating door vacuum motor. Attach the vacuum jumper harness to the plenum harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the floor air distribution duct. Install the floor duct.
  8. If equipped with manual air conditioning, connect the temperature control cable housing to the bracket on top of the plenum and connect the temperature control cable to the temperature blend door crank arm. Adjust the temperature cable.
  9. If equipped with ATC, proceed as follows:
    1. On 1989 vehicles, connect the temperature control cable to the ATC sensor and adjust the cable. Route and attach the vacuum harness connector to the ATC sensor and attach the electrical connector to the ATC servo connector. Do not block the sensor aspirator exhaust port with the excess vacuum harness. Install the ATC sensor tube between the sensor and the evaporator connector.
    2. On 1990-98 vehicles, attach the ATC sensor tube to the evaporator case connector. Install the cross body brace and connect the wiring harness to the blend door actuator.
  10. Install the bolt to attach the lower right end of the instrument panel to the side cowl. Install the right side cowl trim panel and tighten the right door sill plate attaching screws.
  11. On 1989 vehicles, install the instrument panel pad and the glove compartment door. On 1990-98 vehicles, push the instrument panel back into position and install all instrument panel mounting screws. Install the right and left lower instrument panel insulators.
  12. Connect the vacuum supply hose(s) to the vacuum source.
  13. Install the right and left lower instrument panel insulators and install the 2 hush panels.
  14. Unplug the heater core tubes and the heater hoses and connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes. Fill the cooling system.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable and check the system for proper operation.

1984 Jeep CJ7 heater core leaking. '93 inline 6 motor. Wrangler dash. How to I remove the core?


  1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
  2. Disconnect heater core hoses.
  3. Disconnect damper door control cables.
  4. Disconnect blower motor electrical connector.
  5. Disconnect water drain hose and defroster hose.
  6. Remove nuts retaining heater housing assembly to instrument panel. Remove heater housing assembly by tilting heater downward to disengage it from air inlet duct and pulling toward rear of vehicle.
  7. Remove heater core from heater housing.
  8. Reverse procedure to install.

How do you replace a heater motor on a 1995 jeep wrangler

98 XJ cherokee sport 4.0 a/c blows hot air not warm, hot like the heater will not disengage. ac is charged lines and canister are cold. all positions on selector blows heater.


check that the heater control valve on the heater hoses is working, also check that blend door inside heater box and blend door vacuum motor are working. Likely the problem is with the door or motor, but unfortunately, the entire heater box needs to be removed to get to them on most vehicles.

Replacing the heatercore on a wrangler is not easy. The dash has to be pulled foward,cables have to be disconnected,heater hoses disconnected,heater housing dropped and disassembled. I suggest for you to buy a repair manual and it will guide through all the steps to perform this task.

How to repair a 1996 kia sportage heating core

I hope below steps can help ...


1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Engine Cooling System. 2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to “Recovery/Evacuating/Charging” in this section. 3. Remove the dash panel. Refer Body. 4. Remove the blower/ evaporator unit. Refer to “Blower/Evaporator unit” in this section. 5. Disconnect the low pressure line from the evaporator outlet on the bulkhead. 6. Disconnect the high pressure line from the evaporator inlet on the bulkhead. 7. Disconnect the heater return hose from the heater core outlet tube connection. 8. Disconnect the heater inlet hose from the heater core inlet tube connection.

9. Disconnect the fresh air/recirculation control cable from the blower housing unit inlet duct. 10. Disconnect five connectors at the bottom of the blower housing unit. 11. Pull carpeting away from bulkhead to gain access to the hole cover plate. 12. Remove the four nuts retaining the hole cover plate. 13. Remove the hole cover plate. 14. Remove two mounting bolts at the top of the blower housing unit. 15. Remove two nuts attaching the bottom of the blower housing unit to the bulkhead mounting studs. 16. Remove the blower unit from the vehicle. 17. Remove the temperature control cable from the heater unit servo. 18. Remove the two nuts from the mounting studs at the bottom of the heater unit. 19. Remove the top nut holding the heater unit to the bulkhead to the bulkhead mounting studs.
20. Remove the heater unit.

98 jeep wrangler no heat


Try this disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core use a hose to backflush the core. Then reconnect and try again.
