2004 cavalier fuel problem?

Car won't start unless I spray starter fluid into carb. Runs roughly a few seconds then dies after being sprayed. Will run if I spray constantly.Fuel pump, fuel filter, or relay? Trying to fix myself for my son. Please give suggestions.

Please call me its easier to explain on the phone, in the mean time try something easy hit the fuel pump on thebottom with a brick or rock then have someone listen to the fill neck of the tank for the two second "buzz" as soon as you turn on the ignition, has this vehicle been run way way low on fuel many times or the fuel filter neglected to been changed at the 15,000 miles interval?

I forgot first listen at the fuel tank opening if the fuel pump does not buzz then hit the tank if it does after hitting it this quick tst confirms the operation of ignition, fuel pump relay and computer circuit for the fuel pump control circuit and you kow you need to go to THE DEALER for a fuel pump do not trust aftermarket pumps and NEVER NEVER EVER test a new pump or a suspected old pump for that matter fill a bucket with fuel and drop it in the fuel there must be fuel covering the lower 1/4 of the pump by applying power to it to see if it runs one revulotion of a dry pump will Kill it dead

How to starting fluid air intake carburator

Not a great idea if you haven't done this before. You can start a fire, or even ruin your engine. However, in general, remove the air cleaner and spray starter fluid into carb (or throttle body) about one second (one Mississippi) and try to start. If it starts and continues to run, rock on. If it runs a few seconds and dies, you have ither issue and are not getting fuel delivery. Seek help!

My 96 crown vic police interceptor, cranks won't start without spraying starter fluid.. the car won't start without spraying starter fluid into air intake hose to carb...

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Where do I spray the starter fluid (air intake?) for Chrysler Silhouette. Ran out of gas and it seems carburetor needs starter fluid to kick it..not sure where air intake is locater.. or where to open carb...

there is a large tube that goes to your throttle body (you do not have a carb), remove it and spray there-be careful, starter fluid is highly explosive, spray 2 or 3 short bursts into the top of the throttle body opening, and install the tube (you don't have to tighten the clamp). You may have to repeat this a few times, if you can only get the car to run for a few seconds 3 or 4 times, and it will not run on it's own, you have a fuel delivery problem, and no amount of starter fluid is going to fix it.

Cranks up but runs rough for a few seconds then dies, 98 camaro 3.8

It sounds to me like you've jumped timing. And if thats the case you will need a complete timing service along with a full service tune up.

Car dont start, motor turns over, battery is new and it still dont start what could it be? car was working 2hrs before, fluids are all good.

I'd guess with a fuel pump. Check to see if it has fuel pressure. Or if you know how to spray it with a little carb spray and see if it runs for a few seconds. That will let you know if you aren't getting any fuel

Die for a few hours

Check the battery and the alternator. Sounds like maybe electrical. Also the coil. I had a car once that the coil was bad and it had simular problems.
