Question about 1997 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

Intermittant blower motor

Sometimes upon turning the ignition key the blower motor will come on properly, other times it won't. Sometimes this coincides with the power windows not working. It has also started blowing after having been driven for a short time. I've checked the fuses, no problem there. I can't find a relay. I bought the Haynes book for the car, but no electrical diagram for this system. I haven't gone into the blower motor itself or any other under dash stuff.

It turned out to be the ignition switch. Got a new one ( no tumblers) for $45 bucks at O'Reilly's and it fixed the problem.
I had done visual/ continuity checks on the fuses and all were good. With the car running had started to go under the glove box and reached over to kill the car and just that jiggle started the blower. Problem found.

You checked the fuses; did you actually remove them?

The cheap contacts on both the fuse block and the fuses themselves can corrode producing intermittent contact as you describe.
Especially check any that have to do with accessories; I think there may be one fuse servicing both of your problem items.
I would pull and reinstall all of them.
You may also have connectors that are going flaky.

Intermittant blower motor operation on a 2007 ford edge

The next time it cuts off hit the motor end with a hammer handle or similar object, if it starts back up the blower motor is defective and you will need to replace it.

1998 Plymouth grand voyager ignition won't turn

I have had this happen on my 98 Voyager. Just have a new key cut. This new key will sometimes cure the problem. The older keys get worn out and won't unlock the ignition. Try this before a much more expensive and time consuming change of the ignition.

Bad ignition switch and starter symptoms are similar. The engine will turn sometimes and will not turn some other times. If it is the switch you will not even here a clicking sound. If the starter is bad you might hear a clicking. If the distributor is bad than the engine will turn every time but it will not start running or will start but not run properly (misfire).

if its a replacement key sometimes the neck or area by where you grip is not ground out enough to sink deep enough into the ignition. or maybe try a little graphite on the key.
