Start up Recently purchased 95 escort 155k very good condition. At start up it only starts on two cylinders with the third kicking in after about 15 seconds and then the fourth after another 10 seconds. After that in runs fine on all four. Trying fuel injector cleaner new plugs and wires, but still doing it. Also idles when warm at about 650-700rpm,seems low. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have a leaking head gasket, have the cooling system checked for combustion gases when the engine is cold, head gasket issues are common on the Escort.

I have a 95 accord 4cyl 5 speed.i went to start it n the switch kicked itself to off position.its turning itself on if i hold it on the start position but as soon as i let go it shuts itself off

That's a classic symptom of a bad ignition switch for those years. The switch can be purchased at your local honda dealer or any good parts store. It will take a couple of hours to replace and will require the removal of the lower dash panel under the steering column and the steering column covers. The steering column will then need to be lowered and the sheer bolts removed from the lock cylinder housing. once the lock cylinder housing is removed the switch can be replaced. New sheer bolts will need to be purchased from the dealer.

2001 Xterra, running real rough, has 155k on it. The check engine light is flashing on and off. Still has the factory spark plugs in it. Could this be the problem?

it`s a good idea to get a complete tune-up with 155k. but you can use a scanner to get a code to find the problem.

How to find tdc on 95 ford escort 1.9

Using a compression tester in the cylinder all the way to the pass side, turn the engine over by hand until you see pressure rise. This gives you the start of the compression stroke. Remove the compression tester. (If you don't have one, put a finger the the spark plug hole and wait until you feel pressure. (Do not use the battery to turn it over, only do it by hand.) Once you are starting the compression stroke, put a thin but long screw driver or anything straight but easy to put in the spark plug hole.int that first cylinder.

Again, turning over by hand, turn it until the screw driver is at its highest point. You are at TDC.

Hope this helps

95 Mitsubishi Montero Sr, 3.5L V6. 155K,

Would recommend a complete tuneup. Check the air filter first, then visble vaccum lines.

My 95 Ford Escort wont start, changed ignition module, ignition coil pack, crankshaft position sensor...if I change the computer will it have to be reprogrammed ? Trying to figure this out ran beautiful as...

I would listen for the fuel pump(take the gas cap off and listen for the buzz when someone turns the key on), if no buzz or whine then have them crank the engine. If still no noise then take a hammer and hit the middle of the gas tank while the car is being started(make sure E-brake is applied)If it starts it's your fuel pump.

My 1997 ford escort won't start. The engine cranks!

Your issue is your cylinder head is dead, and most likely has caused damage to the piston on the dead cylinder. A compression test will show you have a dead cylinder. You should have no less than 100 psi compression on any cylinder. I have personally seen this issue on escorts over 50 times.
