Yes there should be a metal ring going around the pump. you will need to clean around te pump until you see the ring. it will have a tap sticking up and you will need to tap the tab around until the ring comes off. than you will be able to pull the pump off.

Any tips on R/R fuel pump on a 91 toyota corolla? im pretty sure the only access point requires dropping the tank, but am goin into this blind so exp. advice wood be greatly appreciated...

  • Prepare the vehicle for fuel pump servicing. Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Wait at least 90 seconds on vehicles equipped with an air bag before doing anything else.

  • Access the fuel pump by removing the bottom of the rear seat. Open the service hole in the rear floor. Take out the bolts that hold the fuel tank set plate to the fuel tank and remove the fuel pump assembly.

  • Disconnect the fuel pump sender and electrical connection for the fuel pump. Remove the outlet tube and return the tube from the fuel pump bracket. Separate the bracket from the fuel tank and pull the lower part of the fuel pump away from the bracket. Disconnect the fuel hose and rubber cushion from the fuel pump. Remove the small clip that holds the fuel filter to the pump.

  • Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit, and be sure to replace the rubber cushion and clip. Use a torque wrench to tighten the attaching bolts for the fuel tank set to 30 in. lbs.

    Replace fuel pump

Best to do this in a well vented area because of the fire hazard, so that the gas fumes don't accumulate.
    1) Disconnect battery negative cable.2) Jack up car and support on safety Jack stands3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. These are used for gas fill up; remove hose clamps and disconnect.5) Remove three hoses from front of tank; these hoses go from the fuel pump to the engine. You'll need special fuel line wrenches for this.6) Disconnect two connectors at the front of the tank.7) Remove two bolts that hold the exhaust pipe heat shield. You'll want to use penetrating oil on these; they will be corroded.8) Support tank with a floor jack. Remove the bolts which hold the tank in place. Pivot the tank on the exhaust, tilt and slide out.9) The gas hoses are taped to the tank. Remove the hoses. The fuel pump plate has about 12 screws around it. Remove the screws. Lift the plate out. The fuel pump is retained with one screw. Remove the screw. Filter is retained with a clip; remove it.10) Get your new fuel pump ($250), the rubber gasket for the fuel pump plate, and new filter ($5). Compare the pump with the old one; it must be the exact lenght. I had to go to two different auto parts stores before I got the right one.Installation is opposite of above. Good luck!Fuel pump is not too tough. First, get a Haynes or Chilton manual for reference (about $14).Best to do this outdoors, so that the gas fumes don't accumate. If I recall correctly:1) Disconnect battery2) Jack up car3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. These are used for gas fill up; remove hose clamps and disconnect.5) Remove three hoses from front of tank; these hoses go from the fuel pump to the engine. HOW TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP IN A 1994 BUICK LESABRE

The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank so you must first remove tank from car. After removing locate the wires going into tank. There is a large metal ring around wires. Remove ring by turning counter clockwise, then lift unit out of fuel tank. The pump is mounted in rubber at the end of fuel lines.

1998 pymouth breeze 2.4. how do u replace fuel pump?

Fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank...first you will need to remove the screws holding the filler neck to the side of the fender...then remove the 2 straps holding the fuel tank up...you may need to remove the fuel lines coming out of the fuel pump assembly before dropping the tank...when you get the fuel tank off..there should be a large retaining clip holding the fuel pump assembly in the tank..you can remove the clip with needle nose pliers or if available, use retaining ring pliers...at this point the fule pump assembly should lift out of the fuel tank...be careful not to shear off the float for the sending unit(if your using the same sender unit), then reassemble in reverse order...you may want to replace the fuel filter at the same time(some warranties on fuel pumps will not cover the pump if you do not replace the filter)

How do i get to the fule pump ion a 1996 chevy cavalier?

You have to drop the fuel tank. The fuel pump is in the top of the fuel tank. Then it has a clip that you have to turn to unlock the fuel pump.

    Replace fuel pump/locate

Unfortunately the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank...I have found the best way to remove the pump is to take the entire bed of the truck off..the reason is the straps that hold the fuel tank up have bolts that hold the strap to the frame rail..in my experience..these bolts will snap off , leaving you more work to drill them out an so on..if you do decide to remove the bed there are 8 bolts holding it to the frame...once the bolts are removed ,you want to make sure you unplug the harness for the rear lights and also disconnect the fuel inlet assembly, then you can slide it back just far enough to gain access to the top of the fuel tank..The fuel pump assembly(also called fuel delivery module) will have a large "C" type clip holding it in.Using a screwdriver, you'll need to pop it out from around the diameter of the fuel pump. Then you may need to turn the whole pump a little to remove it...being careful of the float arm that is attached to it. Also, there are tools needed to remove the fuel lines, which should be available for rental from autozone. Be sure to replace the fuel filter as not doing this may void the warranty for the new pump. You will need the special tools for this too.

REPLACE FUEL PUMP GMC 2002 SIERRa

the pump is in the gas tank siphon the gas out and remove the straps holding the tank(you will also need to remove the three screws holding the filler neck to the truck box under the filler door.)as you drop the tank you will also need to unplug the wiring to the top of the tank and the fuel lines they are usually plastic clips, but if this has been done before and the clips got broken from the first time they could have put clamps in place of the clips.I have found it much faster to remove the truck box itself and that way you don't have to drain the tank and it stays stationary while you RandR the pump with less chance of breaking anything.
Also did you double check the fuel pump relay under the hood in the relay box,I would start there first.
    Hope this helps good luck.

How do i replace a fuel pump on a 99 chrysler town and country minivan

the fuel pump is in the gas tank. you will have to remove the bolts that hold the straps in place, lower the tank a few inches as to easier access to the fuel lines and wiring harness. unhook all the wiring and the fuel lines and you will probably see hose clamps for the filler neck, after all things are unhooked the gas tank should come out, if you came this far you will probably be able to figure out how to remove the fuel pump, usually i will use a screwdriver and a hammer to turn the retaining ring or clip holding the pump in the tank..

How to replace a fuel pump in a 95 sebring

yes it is in the tank.....and in some cases, easy access is through the trunk...just lift up the panels and see what's under by your spare tire.....if not, then you will have to drop the tank....
when replacing your tank, do the filter and strainer at the bottom of the pump at the same time..trust me, this will save you a lot of time and money mucking around...
if you're interested in doing the job yourself, then you must put the car on jack stands...locate the tank....loosen the hold down straps...i think they 2 15mm bolts....don't drop the straps right out at this point...undo the clamps holding in the filler tube. with a jack and a block of wood on it, place it under the tank and remove the straps.....SLOWLY lower the jack until the the top of the tank is expose enough to reach the fuel lines going into the pump. with caution not to break any clips or nipples, or lines, remove the two fuel lines going to the pump...there should be a clip there that you need to squeeze in and remove the lines...both are like that...unplug the electrical connector and vent tubes if any.....with a helper, slowly remove the tank from the filler neck tube and lower the tank...once tank is on floor, allow for lots of ventilation...there should be a locking ring holding the fuel pump into place...undo the locking ring, by either using a hammer and BRASS punch or if its a plastic ring, big pair of channel lock pliers.....remove and the pump will come up slightly...remove pump from tank, careful not to damage the level sender. very carefully remove from tank.....once out drain excessive fuel into the tank and remove strainer....and install new one....its very important you replace the strainer with your new pump....and new fuel filter as well...okay? good luck..
