Usually you can locate the actual beeper under the dash and disconnect it, but then you loose all beeper warnings. Other way is to find the wires running to the sensors in the back bumper and cut them, taping the ends. This is there for your safety. You sure you want to do this? (Yeah, I know, they drive me crazy too)

the quickest way, and usually the cheapest. is to check for someone that specialises in drive shaft repair. It is usually more expedient and cheaper, to have the complete drive shaft assy, complete with CV joint replaced as a unit assembly.
Based on my own experience, replacing a drive shaft CV joint is a false economy. It is so much quicker pulling the complete shaft and fitting a new / rebuilt unit.
However, I do hasten to say, it's a personal choice.
Sounds like its the catalytic converter/exhaust silencer thats blocked. That will stop the engine running and give a nasty smell. You should get the car to an exhaust specialist that can test and replace , if necessary , the exhaust. He should be able to test the oxygen sensors too. Hope that helps
