    What is the actual problem?

Boost levels and the rate at which the turbo spools up are not connected. It will spool up at the same speed no matter what final boost pressure is set.

Also, i'm pretty sure the sx's have a ball-bearing turbo, not a crummy journal/sleeve bearing. Either way though, too much boost can break the inducer fins off it.

I think your finding the limit of your turbo for the condition its in. a turbo spins on a small film of oil. that the shaft spins in a tight clearance of a brass bushing and if the turbo becomes out of balance it will fall on its face . this will happen at extreme rpm's and after a while the turbo will star to use oil. that is one of the signs. good luck and never shut down a turbo engine hot it can stick a turbo. if i can help let me know

When driving, the turbo shuts down and I lose power. After shutting the car off for 15-20 minutes, the turbo resets and works again. Sometimes it will work for a few days, other times it may only work...

Check the spark plugs, I have seen several VW turbos with this problem. The aluminum heads expand and contract to fast and crack the porcelain on the plug causing the engine to misfire when the turbo spools up and makes boost. The misfire drops the engine and trans into a "safe mode" where it loses power.

Mk3 Supra Turbo Boost Gauge Problems

The gauge is working fine, the turbo will not kick in untill the engine is spinning fast enough, as the turbo is propelled by exaughst from the engine. So, you can drive around normal and never use the turbo, and climb in the gas and spool the turbo up, what you are noticing is called turbo lag, which is the biggest down fall when compaired to superchargers!

How to fix s14 handbrake

You've got to replace your rear calipers. I say "calipers" because one is hanging up but they should be changed as pairs. Thanks, Dana P.S. It's more likely the calipers than the cables 90% of the time.

Sounds to me like you have a leak somewhere in the intake system. The idle fluctuation sounds like a vacuum leak- and of course, when the turbo spools up, you have positive pressure replacing vacuum. Look for a loose hose clamp or a torn hose, etc. etc. By the sounds of it, you shouldn't have any trouble finding the leak.

i dont like to just jump at a expensive thing like that. you should pull the intake side off the turbo and check your impeller endplay and up and down movement first. ill se what i can find for specs. but if it is realy loose then we know what ya have to do

Whistleing sound on golf gt tdi

It's probably the turbo you're hearing. They spin very fast and make a noise like that. Ever hear an 18-wheeler go by you and accelerate and they make that high-pitched whistle? That's the turbo spooling up. Now, if it sounds like a dentist's drill, that's usually a sign that the turbo is failing, but I'd bet that since your car is under four years old, as long as you've kept up on the maintenance, it's the normal turbo spool.
