Hi Frosty2006,

Check your fuel pressure by all means, but i think that your problem is related to leaking injectors....Remove the injector bank or banks in the case of a 'V' 8 and have them tested t make sure that they're closing....There is a way of testing these your self, but t's a bit involved and you'll have to make up some special equipment....I think it'll be easier for you to take them to a repair shop....Don't forget to replace the rubber seals when re- fitting....

All the best regards

  • Sorry, forgot to tell you the in the first part of my answer....take out the engine dip stick and smell it, to check find out if the engine oil has been contaminated with gas....If i'm right and the problem has been caused by the injectors, fuel may have leaked into the sump via the end gaps of the rings....If it has, the engine oil will not have the lubricosity that it requires and you'll need to drain it, replace the filter, fit a new one and refill....

    All the best regards

its caused by a cylinder mis-fire.it could be as simple as a dirty spark plug or as complex as wiring issues. check your spark plugs, an injectors. next check the coil packs. it could aslo be moisture in the fuel.

Sometimes vehicles from the 1990s that are Ford have a problem with the spark plugs wearing down the electrodes until gas builds up and shoots the spark plug out of its threads when too much gas builds up in a cylinder and it detonates.

Have you changed the spark plug after changing the plug boot and ignition coil?

If the car won't turn over, the battery might be dead or low on charge.

Good luck on this repair.

yes your plug wires are bad. this sounds like a fuel system problem (ie plugged filter, flat injector weak pump) a good tune up will take care of it all. the Ford dealer will have all the correct factory parts as well as ford trained technicians to do the job right. also in today's market place you would be surprised how competitively priced they are.

Lack of power

These engines are pretty sensitive to the spark plug gap. Try replacing the plugs and making sure the gap is correct (even if they're pre-gapped. They're typically 0.055", but there should be a sticker under the hood that states the actual gap.
