1991 honda accord shifting problem.

When it comes to up shifting the car is very hesitant, sluggish. Runs great no problems. The car was owned since new by an old lady. Almost mint condition. I added some lucas transmission conditioner. And still hesitant.

Yes im just hesitant about draining the fluid. Sometimes that drains out the shavings holding it together.

Do you have any idea if the trans fluid was ever changed? It's possible it wasn't, so 1st thing to do would be drain and refill to proper level, if u still have a problem, time to see a trans shop for adjustment, diagnosis. countrycurt0

monstergotme, the metal filings in trans. will do more damage if left floating around in the fluid. Changing the tranny fluid is neglected by most people, the little old lady that owned it too possibly. My repair manual recommends changing it every 2 yrs. or 30K miles, how many miles on the Honda? Good Luck countrycurt0

Sounds like your O2 sensor is malfunctioning. When the check engine light comes on, the computer goes into a preset mode bypassing the O2 sensor and that's why it suddenly runs good. Have the O2 sensor checked. You can also have the trouble codes read and they should point you in the same direction.

Honda accord 1991 shifter has a sport shift option, button. It will not come out of sport shift. It has auto trans.

It sounds like your tcm (transmission control unit) is going bad or it already is, at times when this happens you may also experience the trans not shifting or it gets stuck on a higher gear and will have to shift manually from 1-D.Usually this happens when it's really bad.

Your computer is reverting (when you pull the fuse) to a pre-programmed mode that is meant to simply run your car without the input from various sensors. I would make sure that the sensor I replaced was the correct one for the model and engine. Beyond that there are a number of items that would affect the way your car runs, but not many that affect the way the transmission shifts. Is your D4 light blinking at all? If so, that means there is a transmission problem.
I hope this is of a little help.

Flashing green s on the dash

A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
