Car will idle and rev fine... Once you put it in gear it misses terrible and won't go????

My nephew left his interior lights on last night and the battery was low/dead this morning. The car would not start. We jumped it, and it still would not turn over. We removed the battery and took it to a local Autozone who recharged and said it was good. Upon reinstallation, we began to experience the car starting as long as your foot is on the gas pedal. Once you take your foot off of the gas pedal, the car cuts off. In addition, the car will not start now unless your foot is on the gas pedal. Everything seems fine otherwise, and the car was running fine until the battery episode yesterday

Why does the engine revs drop too low and sometimes stalling when I engage any gear?

This can be either an engine management issue (bad idle air control) or a transmission issue if an automatic trans (torque converter lock up problem). Idle air control can often be cleaned so = cheap fix. Trans problem not so easy.

I think you have an engine speed sensor fault. its not reading the engine speed or the motion speed. needs these two to change speed and ( gear). one is connected to the abs unit and the other is on the engine. usually if they both go its down to the gear box ecu. you can check if you have it on a ecu reader. will have fault codes or not be read at all.

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

It might be the float but if you don't have any trouble getting the truck up to speed then it's likely fine. The trouble is more likely to be in the idle circuit. The curb idle should be 500 to 750 RPM depending on if it's standard or automatic ( higher for auto). If that's okay then you may have to play with the idle screws. Turn them both the same amount, 1/4 turn at a time. Turn them once and then rev the engine 2 or 3 times and let it idle down suddenly. You will have to re-adjust the curb idle to keep it at the right spot as well.
If the truck is an automatic, once you have it set up so it runs right then put it in gear and try again although that will probably only need the curb idle adjusted if it stalls. hope this helps.

5th. Gear

Sounds like you may have bent a shift fork or your cluster gear has some missing teeth on it now. I would venture to say that is it a bent shift fork. This will require the transmission be removed to gain access to inspect and repair.
