Electrical problems on the 1996 Buick Skylark Custom.
I just had a new ignition switch installed but I notice the gauges on the dash still jump around every now and then. Also just recently the passenger back side window does not go up. Are these problems connected ? Or is this something else?

It could be a security problem. These vats systems are known for it. There would be a light illuminated on the dash somewhere that would say SECURITY. Here is a link on the antitheft security system to help you.
Put a test light on the starter ignition terminal,on the starter,if the test light lights up as soon as you turn the key to the start position, and the starter delays starting, check the voltage at the same spot, with a volt meter. If the voltage is lees than 12 volts, and then jumps to the 12 volts, after the delay, then replace the ignition switch. If the voltage is at 12 volts when the key is turned to start the car,and the delay occurs, replace the starter.
The instrument panel is faulty , I understand that there are a couple of places in the country who repair these, I went to a junk yard and got another , however the code needs to to be matched with the ign switch ? ( The theft system is built into the cluster as well ... Good luck !
there is no censor for speed on a buick skylark.
i have an 88 same motor and everything
u jumped a tooth on the gear that drives the needle.
u have to pop the dash off and get to the problem behind the main gauge and the needle assembley should come right out. either that or you stripped the gear and its just going wherever it pleases.
