The starter solenoid is connected to the starter. You will have to remove the starter and the solenoid the housing that the wiring is connected to. Good luck

Sounds like the Starter teeth may not be engaging the flywheel. could be jamming or might be a bad solenoid. Hope it helps...

I have a 1996 Chevy Suburban 1500. No crank or any noise or sound when trying to start. Battery is good, even tried jumping to make sure. Could this be the starter? If so, where is it located?

The starter is next to the side of the lower engine block where the engine and trans meet(I believe on the passenger side on GM V8s)You should get 12 volts on the small(purple?) wire of the solenoid when the key is turned to "start".If you don't get 12 volts when the key is turned,it could be the switch on the shifter(usually referred to as the PRNDL switch)IF you get 12 volts at the solenoid when you turn the key, replace the starter(my Chevy work truck has gone through 6 starters(ONE A YEAR)since I've had it!)

Looking for the starter relay on my 1994 chevrolet Suburban? Were is it, what does it look like?

The starter relay is called a solenoid. On older cars the solenoid was attatched to the wheelwell or firewall inside the engine compartment.
On newer cars the solenoid is part of the starter motor.
With a 94 Suburban it is more than likely part of the starter motor and the whole starter motor/solenoid assembly will have to be replaced if the solenoid is faulty.

Ignition wire to solenoid. Battery to solenoid. Then one wire from solenoid to starter.

My 1996 gmc Suburban won't turnover. Nothing. Not even a sound. Battery is good.

Go down to starter check that it is getting positive voltage to big stud. If yes, you will need to test little wire. It will get voltage when key is turned to start position. If you get voltage then & still wont start most likely starter is bad.

Starter will engage on its own after motor has 96 suburban

sounds like a bad solenoid. this is located on the starter. It can be purchased seperately but is a pain to install. Cheaper than a whole starter though.

Electronic problem in 1996 Chevy Suburban 1500

srgy,
Have 96 burb and had similar issue. Mine was finicky about starting sometimes and thought it was the neutral safety switch. Turns out, it was the starter solenoid. Not positive yours is same issue, but it is worth checking.
