I need some expertise, I went to a friends house in my 1999 hyundai elantra when I got out my friend noticed my brake lights were still out, so we tried pumping the brakes and nothing happened they still stayed on, finally I pulled the ABS fuse and the lights went out however now none of the lights work, and I have to override the shifter in order to get it out of park, does anyone have any idea what it could be?

the brake light switch controls the shift lockout solenoid. perhaps this brake light switch is ajar or misaligned or inoperative. check to see if brake lights are working. there is an override to the shift lever lockout.
If the check engine light is still on, It will have to be scran in order<To find out what cause it to come on, You can,t just guess what the (Problem) Is.
If the battery light is on, your charging system is not working. This may have also caused the brake light to come one. Recommend you replace the alternator and see if that doesn't extinguish both lights. If not, please get back to me.
