Question about Cadillac Escalade

1 Answer

When I have the bulb replaced in the left taillight, it blows. This has happened twice in 1 month. What is causing this. This is a 2000 Cadillac Escalade.

I'll give this advice to my mechanic and let him put a new bulb in. I know there aren't "cadillac" bulbs. I sometimes think mechanics think women are totally stupid. Thanks for trying.

I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I was talking about my mechanic. I told him the bulb problem, he put in a new one, charged me $15 and it still didn't work. Two of my sons fool around with cars, but they prefer the old ones, way past my 2000. Thank you for trying to help me.

The first failure was probably in the realm of 'normal.'
The second failure was probably in the realm of "Made in China."
I'm afraid there are no 'Cadillac' bulbs.

There is no possibility of an overvoltage condition on a single socket.

If you are lucky. the next one could outlast the car.

Just a comment; I did not mean to imply that you were stupid; just that as far as quality is concerned, bulbs are bulbs except when they come from China.

And I'm not a mechanic, but rather a pretty old E-tech who has maintained his own cars for some decades.

What cause tail light to blow

I had a taillight that would blow out every couple months or so. It appeared to be caused by moisture getting in, so I dried out the lense, ensured a good seal, and the problem magically went away!

2012 Camaro: Why does the left rear turn light keep going out? I have had to replace it twice now. I have never had to replace a turn signal in any other cars I have owned.

You may be just unlucky with this particular light. Sometimes we will "fix" something and the replacement part may have had a flaw which makes it confusing. Anyone repairing usually will do troubleshooting to eliminate systematically what is not causing the problem and usually in pursuing the cheapest possible cause to the worst case senario. In this case, bad bulb, to a major short in the wiring harness (probably not the later). To find out you should take your vehicle in to your dealer, a highly respected mechanic or to an electrician that specializes in auto electronics. The wiring to your taillight may have a short in it which could cause overheating of the filament. The light going off and on consistently can cause the filament to break. Your dealer or electrical expert should be able to check the impedance (best to know specs but could check with the other taillight to see if they are the same)... Hope this helps you... cmilton111

Taillight fuse keeps blowing, replace bulbs, checked other fuses. plesase HELP!!!!!1

check the tail light assembly for corrosion.instead of a fuse alone, wire a 12 volt test light in series with the fuse.when a short appears say from a bad wire, the bulb in the test light will glow bright.there has to be a short somewhere ,maybe in the wiring.

98 saturn fuse keeps blowing

Yes, the timing of the start of the problem indicates it's something that happened then. It could be a wire on the assembly was pinched or covering damaged by a screw holding it in place. How quickly did it blow the 1st replaced fuse? Let me know how u make out.
